Dear Parent / Carers,
Cakes
Thank you so much to those of you who have been busy baking cakes to donate to the teachers during this lockdown. It is such a kind gesture and is really quite humbling and massively appreciated by the staff. I have actually just bought myself a new baking cookbook. I will test any new creations out on my family first before offering them to the school community but one day I hope to return the gesture!
Children in School
We have continued to try and find ways to provide places for all children who meet the vulnerable children’s criteria or whose parents are critical workers and whilst we have managed to squeeze a few more in, I know there are still some parents waiting for a phone call. If your circumstances change please can you call to let us know so that we can offer the space to someone else.
Home Learning
Thank you to those of you who have responded to the questionnaire. If you have not managed to but do have five minutes spare please do, especially if you are happy with it! It will close on Monday so we can analyse the feedback. Hopefully home learning will not last much longer and won’t return again but your feedback will help us develop our home learning policy which will form a part of our plan to close the gaps that have opened up as a result of the pandemic.

Emotional Health and Well Being
The theme for Children’s Mental Health Week is ‘Express yourself’. There are so many resources available than it’s hard to know where to start. Having said that the Children Mental Health Week website is as good a place as any.

Place 2 Be run a program called Mentally Healthy Schools which brings together quality-assured mental health resources, information & advice for schools and parents. You can find more information here.

The BBC has got some excellent resources for us parents too. We should all take the time out to look after ourselves as well. I’m taking some time out this weekend to watch the rugby but that will probably increase my stress levels!

Goodbye Mog
Goodbye Mog in an incredibly moving and stunningly illustrated story from Judith Kerr, creator of The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the Mog series. Join the Thomas family as they say goodbye to their dear pet Mog, and get a new kitten. Goodbye Mog is the perfect story for a gentle introduction to the subjects of grief and bereavement, with the one and only MOG herself.
I hope you have a great weekend.
