New COVID Guidelines
You will have already seen in the press that the guidance for self-isolation of close contacts of confirmed cases of COVID 19 will change from Monday 14th December. Contacts will now only need to isolate for 10 days instead of 14 days.
For new cases this guidance applies from now. For existing cases, anyone who has been identified as a close contact and who have already completed 10 day (out of their original 14 day) isolation period on or after Monday 14th December can stop and return to their normal activities – such as school or childcare.
Anyone who has been identified as a contact of a case and is on day 11,12,13 or 14 of an existing 14 day isolation period on Monday 14th December, can end their isolation on Monday 14th December.
This means Whiteread Class (Year 4) can return on Monday and Turner Class (Year 5) can return on Tuesday.
End of Term and Procedures should a Child Test Positive.
We have received a few enquiries regarding story in the news that the Government have told schools that Friday, 18th December can be taken as a non-teaching INSET day.
We have used our 5 INSET days this year so we are not able to make any further changes to the term dates.
School will therefore close as planned on Friday 18th December finishing at the normal time of 3.30.
COVID Cases during School Holidays
The notification from the Government does, however, ask that we make everyone aware of the arrangements in terms of Covid-19 cases during the school holidays and so it would be helpful if you could make yourselves familiar with the following:
If you do need to contact school to report symptoms, as per the first bullet point, please email via head@campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk
Please help our community to get through this difficult period together and safely, so that we can all enjoy the holiday we deserve.

A ‘virtual’ mystery visitor to Thompson class
Wednesday 9th December started normally enough for the children of Thompson class. However, the children began to wonder what was happening, when Mrs Morrissey asked them to push their desks aside (neatly, of course) and sit on the carpet. Beth recalls thinking “We only sat on the carpet in Year 3 – what’s going on?” The children realised they were going to be part of a Zoom, after the sound check bell pinged.
Dylan remembers everyone falling silent as Tony Bradman, the author of our class reader, Anglo Saxon Boy, appeared on the screen. Leila felt ecstatic! The children spent a whole hour interviewing Tony, asking questions such as “Are you dyslexic, because you write books for children with dyslexia?” to “How much do you earn per book?”; “Are you religious? and “What inspired you to write?”
Tony happily answered each question honestly and in great detail. In addition, he discussed his early life with the children. He told them he came from very humble, if not poor beginnings, with his mother worrying constantly about where the next penny would come from. Tony recalled being a very unhappy child between the ages of five and eight and how this all changed when his primary school teacher, Mr Smith, introduced him to Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ and a love of books that has lasted ever since.
Tony told the children he was the only person in his class to attend grammar school and the only person in his family to attend university (Cambridge).
His advice to the children: ‘Read, read, read!’ but always for pleasure.
Campsbourne Cookbook Time!
Have you got a favourite family dish? Missing the chance to share food with friends and family? The HSA are putting together a Campsbourne cookbook and need your recipes from around the world. It can be sweet or savoury, easy or more challenging…. The plan is to compile everyone’s favourite dishes into a handy book that will be available electronically and in hard copy to raise money for the HSA. Please send your recipes to campsbournecookbook@gmail.com by Friday 18th December at the latest.
It would be great if you could include:
Christmas Panto – Jack and the Bean Stalk.
As with most things these day our Christmas Panto will be online this year. I’m sure the children will still enjoy the show as part of the end of term celebrations. I would like to thank everyone who has helped to raise money for the HSA who have agreed to fund this for the children. https://pantoonline.co.uk The children will be able to watch this as part of their class parties during the final week.
Class Christmas Parties
This year during the class party’s children will get to watch a Panto. These will take place on Thursday 17th December. Rather than having lots of ‘sharing bowls and plates’ we will provide all children with a small pack of popcorn / crisps, a slice of flapjack made by our kitchen, and a drink which will be handed out so they are not sharing. This is being funded for by the HSA so thank you to everyone who supports them.
Last Day of Term
Friday 18th December Due to COVID restrictions we will not be allowing parents to pick their children up early. All children will go home at 3.25 in the Infant Building and 3.30 in the Junior Building.
We are also busy preparing for our Christmas performance which will consist of children performing songs within their class bubbles. This will then be put together into a video for you all to enjoy.
Have a lovely weekend
Jonathan Smith
