Dear Parent / Carers,
Home Learning
Thank you to everyone who took part in the home learning survey. We had 152 responses with the over whelming majority (81%) saying they thought provision was good or better.
Excellent 20% / Very Good 30% / Good 31% / Acceptable 14% / Poor 4%
The main improvement requested was around the J2E platform. Behind the scenes we have been organising the technological aspect of setting up google classrooms which will become the school platform for future home learning. Our aim is to deliver staff training over the summer term and transition over to it for September 2021.
The other area for improvement was around providing more ‘live’, small group interactions with children. This is something which has been very difficult to implement this lockdown because we are managing significant numbers both in school and at home. However, this is an area which we will discuss as a staff team to see how we can make further improvements.
School Street
In order to make the journey to school safer for pupils, improve road safety, improve air quality and aid social distancing at Campsbourne Primary School, we are working in partnership with the council to launch a School Street.
A School Street is where a walking and cycling zone is created outside a school during peak drop-off and pick-up times so only people walking and cycling, and those with vehicle permits are eligible to enter the zone. This will create a safer, more pleasant environment where children, parents and staff can travel to school by walking, cycling or other forms of active travel without the air pollution and congestion caused by motor traffic.
The School Street will remain open to people walking and cycling, disabled badge holders and residents of the street, who will have a permit and will continue to have access via car. Anyone else who travels within the zone by car during the operating times will receive a penalty charge fee. Emergency services vehicles will continue to have access to the street at all times.
Our School Street will operate on Nightingale Lane and South View Road from 8.15-9.15am & 2.45-4pm, Monday to Friday during term time only. Please see the attached map showing the School Street area.
This is part of our response to Covid-19, where government advice on school travel is that parents/carers, children and young people should be encouraged to walk or cycle to school where possible, only drive if essential and avoid public transport.
We ask for support from the whole school community to ensure the success of this scheme, helping to create a safer and more pleasant environment around the school. With the introduction of this School Street, we hope that more children and families will feel able to use active travel as a means of getting to school.
The School Street is proposed as an experiment, and during the 6 month initial trial period, Haringey Council will open a consultation so that you can provide feedback on how you feel the School Street is working in practice. This feedback will help inform a future decision on whether to then finish the trial or make the School Street permanent.
If you have any questions at this stage please contact the school, or visit https://www.haringey.gov.uk/school-streets-haringey

Max and the Won’t Go To Bed Show
This is probably my favourite children’s book. Like all good children’s books / films there is something for adults and I think all parents will raise a wry smile to the antics of Max in this story and can relate to them. My youngest daughter is the female equivalent of Max and routinely tells me that sleeping is boring!
And Finally Just in From Taste Ed
TastEd co-founder and food writer Bee Wilson is running a free online talk about ways to help children enjoy vegetables and make meals times happier. Based on the principles of TastEd, personal experience and research from her book First Bite, Bee will share some new ideas. It will also be possible to ask questions in the chat which Bee will try to answer too.
It will be live on Our YouTube channel and Facebook on Tuesday 16th February at 8pm.
Sign up here for the talk here: www.tasteeducation.com/happiermeals
Or watch on YouTube live at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLgaVGxFg2M
I hope you have a great half term and get some quiet time in the evenings.
