When joining in September children’s entry is staggered so that staff and children have quality time to get to know each other and children can familiarise themselves with their new classrooms.
Children come in through the main gate and make their way to the infant playground. Children in Gwen John class enter the classroom through their outdoor area whilst children in Gainsborough class enter through the infant hall.
Parents are welcome to stay and help their children settle, but once their children are settled we encourage parents to leave so children can begin developing relationships with staff and their peers.
Provision in the early years is play based with children having lots of opportunities to play independently. Small groups and whole class sessions are introduced quickly so children can begin learning key skills such as phonics, reading, writing and maths.
Once all of the children have settled in we host coffee mornings so that we can review how things have gone and talk to your about our curriculum and the way we teach.
Our Home School Association also organise after school social events so that parents can get to know each other.
Children often move schools mid year. Before children start at Campsbourne a member of the senior leadership team will meet with you to discuss your child. The purpose of this meeting is to identify and needs your child may have and any additional provision which was in place at their previous school so that we can look to continue this when they start.
On their first day children should arrive at the school office for 8.30. A member of staff will take you to your new classroom and introduce you to your new teacher.
You will be introduced to a buddy who will show you around the school and make sure you have someone to play with at break times.
The class teacher will spend 5mins each day reading with you and making sure you are settling in well.
Parents will be introduced to your child’s class parent rep.
