Dear Parent / Carers,
Remembering Stephen Lawrence Day
On Thursday the children took part in the annual national day of remembrance, learning and community to commemorate the anniversary of his death and to celebrate his life. Children watched a live assembly which was hosted by Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon OBE and spent time thinking about a different aspect of Stephen.
Special – To his family / to our school / to the world EYFS (Reception and Nursery)
Talented – Kindness / Art / Drawing / Maths / Sport (Year 1)
Equality – Justice for all / Does not matter where we are from. We can all learn from this. (Year 2)
Positive Role Model – What do we all want to be? Stephen wanted to be an architect. Are you a kind person? (Year 3)
Hero – Why? Ask children why we should celebrate Stephen’s life. (Year 4)
Education – It mattered to Stephen – his teachers remember that bout him. He wanted to go to university. Why does school matter to you? (Year 5)
Never forget – Why is it important to never forget Stephen? (Year 6)
The children have been producing beautiful pieces of work to remember Stephen which will be collated into a large display book to go in the school reception.
Parent Evenings
Parents’ evening will be taking place on Monday 10th May and Wednesday 12th May using Zoom. The booking system is now available online to make an appointment. https://parents-booking.co.uk/campsbourne
New Finishing Time for After School Club
Thank you to everyone for being flexible and understanding regarding changes to the finishing time for after school club due to fluctuating staff availability and the increased levels of cleaning which we are currently doing. Whilst we have a full staff team back which means we can now close a bit later than 5.45 staff are still having to carry out additional cleaning before they go home. This means that the new finishing time for after school club will be 6.15 from Monday 26th onwards.
School Uniform
Can you please ensure your child comes to school wearing the correct uniform. The policy is as follows:
Uniform can be bought from Kenzies in Wood Green or Tesco’s. We do not sell uniform at the school office.
The fact that some children do not wear school uniform whilst others do is causing problems in class as children quite rightly think this is unfair. Your cooperation in following this school policy is much appreciated.
Sports Day
We have provisionally booked Friday 2nd July for our sports day this year. We are hoping to use the field in Alexandra Palace as we have in previous years and hope that the weather is kind to us.
HSA AGM
The Campsbourne Home School Association (HSA) annual general meeting will take place on Friday 28th May 9am. Details of how this will be hosted will be sent out nearer the time.
Best wishes
Jonathan Smith
