Geography teaches children to become excited and fascinated about the world around them. In collaboration with parents we agreed that learning about the environment and the climate crisis were key areas we wanted our children to learn about. We have therefore developed a curriculum which weaves these themes throughout the units and encourages them to become more socially and environmentally sensitive, informed and responsible citizens.

We have developed a high quality history curriculum which enables our children to develop a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and the wider world. It inspires children’s curiosity to know more about the past, and to develop an understanding of why the world looks the way it does today. We have built it based on local sites of historical significance such as Alexandra Palace and also on events which are particularly pertinent for our children e.g. The Windrush generation.

Computers are now part of everyday life. For most of us, technology is essential to our lives, at home and at work. ‘Computational thinking’ is a skill children must be taught if they are to be ready for the workplace and able to participate effectively in this digital world.

We believe that Religious education (RE) makes a significant contribution to our children’s academic and personal development.

At Campsbourne we know that music is central to a child’s development and strive to afford all of our young people the opportunity to engage in meaningful musical activities. 

PSHE education gives pupils the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work in modern Britain.

Each year group scheme includes a set of skills and criteria that should be covered during the year on each of the 5 key areas of painting, drawing, print making, textiles and sculpture. Each term must include painting and drawing and either one of, or a combination of, the other areas ensuring that all are covered during the year.
