Dear Parent / Carers,
First Black Heritage Networking Event
Last week we had our first Black Heritage Networking Event for parents and carers at the school, facilitated by Jade Springer-Best, our Black Families Community Lead. We had a brilliant turn out, with over 20 parents and their children attending the event, which was organised by Black Families Network, and Jade Springer-Best. The meeting aimed to improve communication with parents, making them aware of progress and including them in conversations. The event allowed a safe and warm environment where parents and carers were able to discuss and highlight specific issues, share their experiences and offer feedback about all aspects of school life. The presence of all the parents and carers is what contributed greatly to its success ( and maybe the delicious food provided by Ray Dadzie!).
This event, which we are hoping will be the first of many, will help the school to hear directly from parents and families, giving them a voice and helping Campsbourne to involve them in all aspects of their child(ren’s) learning. We will continue to promote Ms Springer-Bests role and position within the school, which is to support Black families and children and ensure they are represented. It is extremely important that all our parents and carers are heard, particularly those who are not always able to engage with school life. We hope future meetings will help to make all parents and carers to feel welcomed, included and valued.
We would like to say a big thank you to Miss Best, Eleanor Dunn, Gemma Hall, Ronnie Kambeja, Raymond Dadzie, Anita Jakhu and Billie- Jean as well as all the parents and carers who attended our first Black Heritage Networking Event to make it such a fun evening. We hope to see you again soon!
Sports Day
Next Friday 8th July is Sports Day. The details are as follows:
The set up will be the same as last year with parents standing in an aisle in the middle of the tracks so you can walk up and down if you have children in different year groups. We have done our best to ensure that the children are as active as possible throughout so there is not too much sitting around.
Sports Day will start at approximately 9.30 in Newlands Field opposite the school. The children will be organised in groups as follows:
- Track A/B – Reception and Year 1.
- Track 3 – Year 2 and Year 3.
- Track 2 – Year 4 and year 5.
- Track 1 – Year 6.
Please see the attached map to see the location of each track. Campsbourne Sports Day Map – Updated 2022
Children will compete in a three legged race, hurdles, sprints, nerf ball, sack race, over and under, relay and some classics such as egg and spoon race and bean bag balance for the younger children. Children are asked to wear a coloured t-shirt on the day to represent their house colour. We expect sports day to be finished between 12 and 1 so that they can return to school for lunch. A celebration assembly will take place among the children in the afternoon. Your child will need to bring enough water for themselves and a piece of fruit as a snack. Please try and avoid snacks in plastic wrappers so we do not create lots of litter in the park. The weather is forecast is sunny with a maximum temperature of 24 degrees while we are there. Please ensure your child it suitably dressed for warm weather and running e.g. trainers not sandals, ensuring that you have administered sun cream and they have a hat. Most importantly, this is a fun morning for all of the children, so please enjoy your day and cheer the children on.

All families and carers of SEND children are invited to attend our second SEND parent coffee morning on Thursday the 7th July at 2.30pm. Please sign in at the main office and we will make our way to meet in the school dining hall. We want to build on setting up a group of parents that can meet on a regular basis to share ideas, advice, and offer support in a friendly environment. Come and join us for a drink and a chat. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards
