Dear Parent / Carers,
We have had a great start to the school year. I can’t believe that we have already finished our first full week. Our new reception classes have joined us and are settling in well. I look forward to spending time with them next Friday when I am in class covering the teacher’s planning time. We have already had our first workshop of the year which you can read about below. We have also elected our School Council members for this year and will be sharing their details with you next week.
Tender Workshops in Year 6
Over the last two days, year 6 have completed the Tender Workshop which has equipped them with many tools and strategies to support in understanding positive relationships and how to protect themselves and others around them. This was all done through discussions, drama and lots of games which the children thoroughly enjoyed. All of the information learnt will equip the children well for their journey through year 6 and beyond at secondary school.
Term Dates and Meet the Teacher Meetings
Please make a note of the key dates which are on the following page. The first key dates are the Meet the Teacher Meetings which take place on Tuesday 19th September for Year 1 and 2; Wednesday 20th September for Year 3 and 4 and Thursday 21st September for Year 5 and 6.
Sharon is Back! Preloved Uniform Give Away
It has been lovely to see even more children wearing the school uniform this week. Our aim is for everyone to be wearing it every day. Please remember that we do have a school uniform policy and it is really not fair on these children when other children come in their own clothes. We rely on parental support for this rather than enforcing it through consequences for children so your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated.
If your child does not have a school uniform or if you are running low next week (Monday to Thursday only) we will be giving away preloved uniform which we have lots of. Sharon is back on Monday and will be in the eco room between 8.40 and 9ish to help you find the sizes which you need.
Instrumental Music lessons
Please follow the link below if you would like your child to have one-to-one music lessons delivered by Haringey Music Services. https://www.haringey.gov.uk/children-and-families/schools-and-education/services-pupils/haringey-music-service/instrumental-teaching#apply_for_music_lessons
If your child gets free school meals these lessons are free. Applications should be made on line. Any questions please go to the music room and see Jeannie.
Festive Cards!
Every year at Campsbourne we work with a company that transforms your child’s artwork into a set of high quality festive cards, mugs or wrapping paper and tags. The ordering and payments are online. You’ll need to login or set up an account at https://www.cauliflowercards.co.uk/parents-shop which is very quick and easy to do. There will be a unique number on the forms that you use to place your order before you return the artwork to the class teacher. The collection deadline is Friday 20th October. Don’t worry – there are full instructions on the forms, and there will be reminders on Classlist as we get close to the deadline.
Harvest Festival Collection
This year we will be hosting our Harvest Festival Assembly on Monday 16th October.
Class Dojo
Last we trialled the use of Class Dojo to communicate with parents sharing images and videos of the children in class. The number of parents who signed up for this was very low and does not justify the time required by administrative staff to set up and maintain accounts or the time which teachers spend taking pictures / videos etc and uploading them. We believe that teaches time is best spent teaching the children and have therefore decided not to offer this service in future but will continue to communicate about what your child is learning and exciting events which are communicated to you via weekly newsletters, homework letters and curriculum newsletters.
