Dear Parent / Carers,
We are always looking for projects, trips and workshops to complement our curriculum. Our youngest children in Nursery and Reception have been loving the messy tactile experience of open-ended clay play through a special project run by the local authority Early Years Team.
It has been a fantastic experience for the children who have been developing their fine and gross motor skills and for stimulating speech, language, collaborative play and creativity. They explored rolling, shaping, modelling and pressing objects into the clay to see the imprint, and experimented with different objects to see which materials imprinted better – hard or soft? The children also made their own models – we have had giant’s castles to rotten lollipops, snails, butterflies, cats, space rockets, monsters, dinosaurs, or just the exploration of the malleability and the soothing nature of clay! The children noticed that the clay smelt, looked and felt different to the play dough that we normally use. They could draw a correlation between clay and the mud in their playground! We also had discussions about clay as a natural resource and where it can be found! This clay project has been quite a hit in the early years as the imaginative and creative opportunities are endless!

Aerosol Cans are Now Banned
Due to an incident involving an aerosol can these have now been added to our list of prohibitive items and are not allowed in school. This is particularly relevant to our older children who may start using deodorant after PE lessons. If they wish to use deodorant then it must be a roll on and not a spray.
Can I also remind parents that any medication, including cough sweets, must be handed into the office and not put in your child’s bag.
Error with Date for Year 2/ 3 Open Morning
The date for the Year 2 / 3 Opening Morning was incorrectly shared last week as Friday 9th February. This open morning actually takes place the week before on the Friday 2nd February. My apologies for the confusion. Both the newsletter and calendar on the website have been updated with the correct dates.
