Dear Parent / Carers,
Class Photo – Wednesday 8th May
Don’t forget that next Wednesday is Class Photo day so please make sure your child is in the correct school uniform.
New School Office and Entrance
The final project in the building works is the repurposing of our old art room which is next to our current school office / reception into our new school office / reception with a secure pathway from the school gate to the office. This will ensure that visitors to the school must sign in at the entrance before being given access to the grounds, something which is not possible at the moment.
I am told that this project is due to start at some point during the summer holidays but will run into the autumn term. However, as it is a very localised project it will have minimal impact on the running of the school.
Please use Main Gate on Nightingale Lane from Tuesday Onwards
When we return on Tuesday 7th May, all families will use the main entrance on Nightingale Lane to enter the school to drop off and pick up your children.
Parents with children in Reception to Year 2 will continue to drop their children off and pick them up in the Infant Playground and parents with children in Years 3 to 6 will continue to drop them off and pick them up from the Junior playground.
In the morning the school gates will be opened at 8.40am and closed at 9am.
In the afternoon the school gates will be opened at 3.20pm and closed at 3.45pm.
SEND children Parent/Carer Coffee Morning
All families and carers are invited to attend our SEND parent coffee morning on Wednesday 12th June at 9am (after morning drop off) hosted by Morgan Currie. Please sign in at the main office. Come and join us for a coffee/tea and a chat. This term we will host Zoe Buxton from CAMHS who will discuss her role with supporting children at our school and “Brain Buddies”. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
Extended School Arrangements
Breakfast and After School Club 3.30 – 6.30 will still use the Nursery entrance for pick up and drop offs.
After School Clubs 3.30 – 4.30 will continue to use the Newland Road entrance.
Increase in Fees for Breakfast Club and After School Club
It is with great regret that the governors have agreed to increase the fees for both the Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Club by 10%. The increases will come into effect from September 2024.
Per Session per Child (Current Fee) |
Additional Siblings (Current Fee) |
Per Session per Child (Sep 2024 Fee) |
Additional Siblings (Sep 2024 Fee) |
|
Breakfast Club | £4 | £3 | £4.40 | £3.40 |
After School Club | £12 | £10 | £13.20 | £11 |
Changes to Holiday Club Hours
We are also mindful that family’s needs during the school holidays can vary and that not everyone will need the full wrap around care of 8am to 6pm and that a shorter session based around the school day of 9am – 4pm may be more cost effective and meet your needs.
We will therefore trial offering parents the choice of either an 8am to 6pm session or 9am to 4pm.
Per Session per Child (Current Fee) |
Additional Siblings (Current Fee) |
Per Session per Child (Sep 2024 Fee) |
Additional Siblings (Sep 2024 Fee) |
|
Holiday Club 8am to 6pm |
£35 | £35 | £38.50 | £38.50 |
Holiday Club 9am to 4pm |
£24.50 | £24.50 | £27 | £27 |
You can view the timetable of activities for this half term here. You are able to book these sessions using your ScoPay Account. https://www.scopay.com/login

Changes to School Menu
We are going to take a new approach to updating the school menu. When asking children for suggestions to refresh the menu we have found that they are reluctant to try new recipes because they have thought that if they don’t like them they will still be on the menu for the reminder of the term or even longer!. We have therefore spoken to the School Council and told them that when choosing new recipes to try we will do so for 3 to 6 weeks but if, after 3 – 6 weeks, the feedback is not positive we will look to change the choice again. We hope that this will encourage the children to be more adventurous in choosing new options in future. New menus have been uploaded to the school website with the new dishes, chosen by the children in red.

Updates from the HSA
Match Funding:
Does the company you work for offer match funding? We can help you find out and together we could raise even more funds through HSA events for our incredible school. Many companies match charitable donations/fundraising/event volunteering, so for example, if we raised £5k at the summer fair, a match funding partnership could match it anywhere from 25% – 100%! Can you imagine if we managed to DOUBLE the amount we raise for the school, just think of all the amazing experiences our children could benefit from. Recent HSA spending includes funding new playground equipment, books and IT supplies, as well as biscuits for forest school sessions to name a few. Match Funding Companies
Every company is different but we are here to help you understand your specific circumstances and can even help you set it up with your HR department or equivalent. Check out the attached list below to see if your employer is featured and get in touch so we can help you apply. Any parent or carer can apply and your HR department will know more specifics. Contact Alex Lawson or Tess Van den Oever on Classlist to find out more – even if your company is not listed, we could still help!
Laugh for Staff:
Comedy night tickets are on sale NOW! Grab yours at all drop-offs and pick-ups in both playgrounds until we sell out! Tickets are only £15 including dinner and a whole evening of excellent professional comedy! Don’t delay, grab yours ASAP!
Calling all Class Reps:
If you’re a class rep, from Nursery through to Year 6, you are invited to the “Class Rep Appreciation Meeting” on Wednesday 22nd May from 7:45 pm in the school assembly hall. Free drinks and nibbles will be provided for you to enjoy. Check Classlist for more details, or speak to Alex Lawson or Robyn Ballin.
