Dear Parent / Carers,
Sports Day
Sports day this year will be on Friday 12th July and will take place over at the Alexandra Palace fields. It will start at approximately 9:30 and will finish by lunch time. As always, there will be ropes creating a walkway between each area so you can walk up and down and see all of your children, from different year groups, taking part in Sports Day 2024. Please can I kindly ask that you remain within this roped area at all times to ensure the day runs smoothly. Children will be given colours and can I please ask that where possible, children wear a t-shirt of that colour on the day. These four colours are split between the school so your child will be representing a colour group from Reception to year 6 and not just themselves individually. We will finish the day with a special Sports Day assembly with the children where all children will be praised and the winning team will win a trophy which will be put on our trophy shelf in the school. The main aim as always is to have fun and enjoy the day and to remind all children that it is the taking part that counts and not the winning. Thank you all for your on going support with Sports Day and we look forward to sharing Sports Day 2024 with you all. See you there. 🙂
Whiteread Trip to Olympic BMX Track
Whiteread had an exciting and memorable day at the velodrome learning all about BMX riding! The excitement was palpable as they learned new skills and challenged themselves on the tracks. It was a day filled with adventure, teamwork, and lots of fun, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for the sport! Many of the children even came way expressing that they want to have their birthday parties at the velodrome next year!
Year 5 Football Tournament
On Friday we took 9 children from Year 5 to the football tournament held at St Thomas Moore. It was a lovely day out. We played 6 games in the morning. Winning 4 games, drawing 1 and losing 1 which meant we qualified and made it into the quarter finals and then the semi-finals. We were so close to finishing 3rd place but unfortunately it was down to penalties and we just missed it, this time! We finished in 4th place. The children had lots of fun and we were so proud of them and they were proud of themselves also. Well done Campsbourne!
Message from the Junior Travel Ambassadors
The Junior Travel Ambassadors are running a competition and would like your help! We would like you to design a poster telling motorists to stop speeding and idling their engines outside our school. There is a special prize for entering and you could see your design hanging on the school fence. The closing date is the 12th of July. Please Enter!
The Eco warriors Need your help!
We are trying to make our school free from single use plastics. We are hoping that in September after the summer holidays you could help us by not sending your children into school with single use water bottles, trying not to use cling film, crisp and popcorn packets in their pack lunch. Did you know that around 60 million plastic bottles end up in landfills every day and 1.2 billion meters of cling film are used across the UK each year. If we work together we can make a difference.
Summer Holiday Club
It is now possible to start booking spaces for this year’s summer holiday club which is running from Thursday 25th July to Friday 16th August. As with our half term club we will be offering parents the opportunity to book 8am to 6pm sessions and 9am to 4pm sessions as well. You can view a sample timetable of activities here and book places using scopay. SCOPAY
Latest from the HSA
Summer Fair
We have counted all the money and can reveal that we raised an ASTONISHING £4.1k at the summer fair!! We hope everyone who attended had a wonderful day with friends and family, full of fun and games, yummy food and drinks and lots of lovely musical and dance performances! The HSA continues to strive to create inclusive and financially accessible events for the entire Campsbourne Community and we know there will always be elements we can improve on. If you have a suggestion of something you think we could do better next time, we’re happy to listen so drop us an email at hsacampsbourne@gmail.com
Auction
Our online auction closed on Sunday and that last hour was filled with a flurry of bidding wars and some delighted winners when the clock hit 9 pm! We raised just over £4k, which is an incredible amount of money, so a big thank you to all our winning bidders. Of course, if you didn’t manage to secure the prizes you had your eyes on, fear not, our winter raffle is just around the corner. It will be another chance to win some excellent prizes from local businesses … and there’s always next year’s auction! Thank you to everyone who participated and placed bids.
HSA Thank You Picnic
On Friday 12th July (weather dependent), we are hosting our annual picnic after school in the lower playground from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm. All Campsbourne families are invited to come and relax in the lower playground, with drinks and snacks on sale, musical performances, a chance to play with friends, and time to discuss all the action from sports day! We would love some additional helping hands for set up and especially pack up, so if you’re in a position to help, get in touch with your class rep or any HSA member. We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there.
Coffee Truck Morning
On Friday 19th July, local coffee truck Kinda Grind will be parked up in the middle playground at drop off until 9:30 am (you might have seen their pink van before, at the Ally Pally Farmer’s Market). They will be serving a delicious selection of dairy-free coffees, teas and hot chocolate, available for all teachers, parents and carers to buy. They have agreed to donate 10% of everything they sell that morning to the HSA! So after dropping off your little one, why not stick around in the middle playground, enjoy a hot drink and take a moment out of your busy morning to mingle with fellow parents and carers from the Campsbourne Community?
