Welcome back to the last half term of the academic year. I hope that you all had a lovely break and managed to enjoy the good weather. It was lovely to see so many of you at this afternoon’s diversity celebration event. Bringing the whole school community together for an event of this importance is a wonderful way of celebrating our differences and to learn so much about the many cultures within our school. Thank you to everyone who brought a dish for others to enjoy and thank to the children for making the event so memorable. It is a very busy half term so please keep abreast of the many events and trips that are taking place over the next six weeks.
WORD OF THE WEEK – BEEK (13th century) to bask in the pleasurable warmth of the sun.
LATEST FROM THE HSA –
As always, it’s a huge amount of work to put together a whole school event, and historically we raise over £4k, but the HSA simply can’t do it without the support of the Campsbourne parents and carers. The volunteer rota has been shared by class reps, and is up on Classlist too. Please take a look and help us plug a 45-minute volunteer slot! It’s always lots of fun and means we can safely and smoothly run the fair – click this link: http://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XzvgnxBGkjhVvngpqvJh4x-4pRWNglAYwBAmJP1rXqg/edit?gid=637074632#gid=637074632

Thank you SO MUCH for all your incredible donations for the summer fair.
Please keep bringing things in, and the “Summer Fair Donation Box” will remain opposite the school office.
Please drop off:
* Soft toys/teddies for “Soft Toy Tombola”, e.g. pre-loved, clean and ready to pass on to someone else to be loved.
* Any unopened bottle for “Bottle Bonanza” from shampoo to champagne! E.g. wine/beer/soft drinks, toiletries or household, glass/plastic, big/small, whatever!
* Jars and/or tiny tat for “Jolly Jam Jars”, e.g. clean & empty jars, tiny toys, stickers & trinkets, etc.
* Prizes! Pre-loved children’s games, toys, and puzzles—all complete and not broken, and no books, please!
* For any green-thumbed families, we need plants and/or gardening-related donations for the plant stall – so start planting those seeds and propagating now!
Coffee truck
Thanks to everyone who came along to the coffee truck this morning. We’re glad everyone could enjoy a hot drink and have a chance to mingle, and also chat with the Governors. We’ll announce how much we raised for the HSA next week. Kinda Grind will be at the Summer Fair and will return to their Friday slots in the new school year! Thank you to everyone who has supported them and the HSA by buying a hot drink this academic year!
DIVERSITY EVENT – Thank you to everyone who attended the after school event which culminated in the choir singing True Colours and This is Me. It was wonderful to see so many of you and the food was well received by everyone who sampled it. The quality of the children’s work was very good and the assembly on Friday afternoon gave them an opportunity to showcase this. Weeks of this nature are such a vital part of the school’s curriculum and reminds all of us how important it is to treat each other with respect dignity and understanding even though we may be different.
DOGS ON SITE – Thank you for your continued support this very important initiative. It was very encouraging to see so many of our parents and carers making provision for their pets it has been very much appreciated. There are a few parents and carers who have brought their dog on site this week, we ask that you follow the guidance that sent out prior to half term.
GET YOUR GROWN UPS GARDENING – Earlier in the week I sent you all a letter inviting you to take part in a new initiative – GET YOUR GROWN UPS GARDENING. The purpose of the initiative is to bring some love and care to the grounds for the whole school community to enjoy. It is also a chance to come together, get to know one another in a relaxed way and enjoy some manual labour over tea and coffee. Our first session takes place tomorrow between 10am through to 12pm. The weather forecast is for showers but I am sure we can get some gardening done in between times. I look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow morning.
STANDARDS ASSEMBLY – This new assembly begins next week. Every Friday you will receive an email from the Office if your child has been selected to receive a Headteacher’s Certificate where you will be invited to join us on Monday or Tuesday morning at 9:05am to be a part of this weekly community event. Children enjoy seeing their parent / carer at this special assembly and is often one of the memories they treasure from their time at primary school. We will also review our five standards class by class, reward classes who have the best attendance and sing those children who celebrated a birthday in the previous week. We look forward to welcoming you to the assembly next week.
PLEASE NOTE – Reception Year 1 2 and 3 Standards Assembly takes place on Monday mornings at 9:05am – Year 4 5 and 6 Standards Assembly take place on Tuesdays at 9:05am
ATTENDANCE – Congratulations to Year 2 Hepworth who had the best attendance this week with 100%. This is fantastic children, please keep this going for the rest of the year.
