Dear Parent / Carers,
The children have had a busy week enjoying Design and Technology Week. There have been lots of food-based lessons taking place with children exploring a wide range of foods and making their own recipes including a Greek salad in Year 5. You can view pictures and read more about what children have been doing across the school on our website https://campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk/curriculum/foundation-subjects/design-and-technology/
Year 1 have also enjoyed visiting the Tate Modern and carrying out an Art Hunt! You can read more about their visit on our website https://campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk/ofili-visit-tate-modern/
Twilight on March 15th
We were due to have our final twilight for staff training on March 15th. This is one of the designated NEU strike days so we have reorganised this for our INSET day on Monday 5th June. There are no further twilights planned.
Fund Raising for Victims of Earthquake in Turkey and Syria
The horrific earthquake in southern Turkey and northern Syria has killed thousands of people and left many more homeless, some of whom are relatives of families whose children attend Campsbourne. They are in desperate need of our support which I know so many members of our community want to provide. The School is liaising with members of our Turkish Community to organise fund raising initiatives for when we return after half term. As soon as we have confirmed what these are we will let you know. In the meantime if you would like to donate money you can do so through the Just Giving link below which we have set up for the Campsbourne community. The chosen charity is the Turkey Mozaik Foundation which is a UK based charity founded by mostly Turkish-British citizens. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/campsbourneprimary
New Online Forms to report Bullying or Racist Incidents
In our efforts to eradicate all forms of bullying and racism we have created two forms on our school website so that parents can raise concerns about incidents which they may regard to be bullying or racist.
The first form is for incidents which involve bullying. This form is sent directly to the head teacher who will ensure that your concerns are thoroughly investigated.
https://campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk/parents/care-of-your-child/bullying-concerns/
The second form is specifically for incidents which parents feel are or may be racist, either consciously or unconsciously. Children don’t always know whether an incident is racist and there is always the danger that they think certain language is acceptable. As part of our commitment to addressing all forms of racism, we want to ensure that all incidents are reported and investigated appropriately. This will contribute to a safe learning environment and to ensure we send out a powerful message to children that racism is unacceptable in schools and in wider society. Campsbourne school also has a statutory and legal duty to address racism and discrimination, to take proactive steps to tackle racial discrimination, and promote equality of opportunity and good race relations.
We have therefore created a form where parents can raise concerns about incidents which they may regard to be racist. By submitting this form, your concern will be picked up by the Head Teacher, Jonathan Smith and by our Black Community Lead, Miss Jade Springer-Best, who works Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Jade will aim to make contact with the parents who have submitted a form within 48 hours of receiving the email to discuss their concerns and explain how she will investigate the incident / concern that has been raised. We will then aim to work with all parties involved to offer support for your child and anyone else involved or affected and to identify the best possible response. This might target the parties involved, the broader student body, support for staff or changes to the curriculum/school policies.
You are also able to email or discuss any racist incident directly with your child’s teacher, with Jade Springer-Best
or with the Headteacher, Jonathan Smith.

We hope that these forms provide parents with an easy way to raise concerns and help ensure that all incidents are addressed by the school ensuring that Campsbourne is a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
Email Expectations
At my last class rep meeting I was asked about the length of time it takes for staff members to respond to emails. I explained that staff were very busy and do not routinely monitor their email accounts throughout the day. I agreed that I would develop guidelines about the response times from different parts of the school so that parents can choose the best email address to use.
- These guidelines are outlined below and are the minimum standard but we do aim to respond as soon as possible where we can.
- I would like to remind parents that responding to emails can be time consuming and ask that you think carefully before emailing teachers as we want them to spend as much of their time working with your children and planning amazing lessons.
- If your email does not require a response and is for information purposes only then please say so.
- If your query is a general enquiry or about wider school provision and not linked to provision in class then please send your query to the office who will forward it on to the best person to reply.
Teachers
Teachers teach between 9.00 – 3.30 so their email account is only checked periodically between 8.30 – 9.00 and 3.30 – 4.30 Mon to Fri. They will therefore aim to respond to your email within 5 working days. If it is urgent please contact the school office using admin@campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk check email Mon –Fri between the hours of 8.15 – 3.45.
Office
The school office is open between 8.15 – 3.45 Mon to Fri during which time this email account is regularly monitored. The office will aim to respond to your email within 24 hours. If it is urgent please call the school office on 020 8340 2064 between 8.15 – 3.45.
Deputy Head and SENCo
Although Miss Currie is not class based she does teach for periods during the school day and is often in meetings. She therefore doesn’t routinely monitor her email account throughout the day and will aim to respond to emails within 5 working days. If it is urgent please contact the school office using admin@campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk or by calling 020 8340 2064 between the hours of 8.15 – 3.45 Mon to Fri.
Head Teacher
Whilst I aim to check my email account throughout the day I am often in meetings or supervising playtimes and lunchtimes. I therefore aim to respond to emails within 2 working days. If it is urgent please contact the school office using admin@campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk or by calling 020 8340 2064 between the hours of 8.15 – 3.45 Mon to Fri.
These guidelines can be found on the website https://campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk/contact-us/ and on the Year Group Pages https://campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk/year-groups/
Parents’ Evening – Online Appointment Booking
As agreed earlier in the year the spring parents evening will be taking place over a video link using School Cloud. Because we are two schools there are separate logins so there is a letter for Infants with a login link and a separate letter for the Junior School with a separate login link. These meetings are taking place on the following dates:
Parents whose children don’t have a special Need
- Monday 6th March
- Wednesday 8th March
Parents whose children do have a special Need
- Monday 20th March
- Wednesday 22nd March
Because this is a new system we are opening the system from today so parents can make appointments and familiarise themselves with the system well in advance. Appointments can be made up until 4pm of the Sunday before your parents evening dates.
- Appointments will close on Sunday 5th March for those whose children don’t have special needs.
- Appointments will close on Sunday 19th March for those whose children do have a special need.
You will receive a reminder one hour before your meeting.
A short guide on how to book appointments is included with this email as well as a link to a video below.
https://support.parentseveningsystem.co.uk/article/801-video-parents-how-to-attend-appointments-over-video-call
To login you will need the following information:
- Parent First Name and Parent Last Name (These must be exactly the same as we have on our management system.)
- Child’s Date of Birth
Please visit https://campsbourneis.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to book your appointments for the Infant School.
Please visit https://campsbournejr.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to book your appointments for the Infant School.

The system will close the meeting automatically after these times so please make sure you are on time and focus the discussion on your child’s academic progress in class.
If you are having problems please contact the school office who will be happy to help.
World Book Day
We are looking forward to be celebrating World Book Day this year on Friday 3rd March. This year we will be going with the theme of ‘Bedtime stories’. This means the children can come dressed up in their pyjamas, slippers, dressing gowns, onesies etc or if they prefer, they can come to school dressed as their favourite book character. It will be an exciting day for everyone with lots of fun activities. Please see the separate flyer attached giving all the information about our competition this year!
