Class Dojo and Premium Service Emails
Some parents have informed me that they are receiving emails from Class Dojo regarding a ‘premium’ service which comes with a fee. I was unaware of this service and have contacted Class Dojo to find out more. They have informed me that this service comes with additional features which they charge for so that they can offer the basic service for free. We have signed up to the basic service to provide you with a window into your child’s class so you can see what they are doing whilst at school. We can do this using the free service and do not intend to use the premium service. If you receive an email regarding the premium service you can unsubscribe so that you stop receiving them.
Anti-Bullying Week
Anti-Bullying Week is next week and the theme this year is “Reach Out”. Children have been informed about a writing competition featuring the theme, and the deadline is next Wednesday.
They may need some encouragement this weekend with their stories or poems. On Monday we are encouraging children to wear odd socks to demonstrate it’s ok to be different and no-one should be bullied for it. There will be a sharing of work in assembly on Friday afternoon and some examples will go up on our website.
Parking on Yellow Lines
I appreciate that the building work to the school fence outside the nursery is disruptive because the road is much narrower and I’m afraid I don’t have a date for when this work will be completed. However, can I please ask parents not to park on the yellow zig zag lines outside of school when picking up children from the after-school club. This is causing disruption to neighbours and other parents who are also trying to pick their children up.
Tuck Shop for Kidscape
Year 5 are bringing back the tuck shop at break time for one week only in order to collect money for Kidscape, an anti-bullying charity. We will be selling a range of fruit, which will be 20p each, but we will not be able to give change so please bring in the exact money! You will be able to find us in the eco-room.
ECO WARRIORS MARVELLOUS MONTHLY TIPS
Every month our Eco Warriors will be providing tips on how you can save energy both at home and at school! This months tips focus on the best temperature for washing clothes.
Reasons to cold water wash
- Do you want to save money from your cloth washing room? Use cold water in the washing machine. It will help!
- Cold water is fine for most items removing any type of stain including a grass stain or even a makeup stain.
- Hot water is actually worse for some stains and can shrink some types of clothes.
- When you use hot water it is an estimated 75-90% of all energy costs so save money and energy bills! Use cold water.
Parents Evenings for Children who do have a Special Educational Need is Open!
The online system for booking a parents’ evening meeting is open. These meetings are taking place on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd November. You can book a meeting using the following link.
www.parents-booking.co.uk
These meetings for children with a special need will last 20 minutes. The finishing time for the final meeting each evening will vary slightly between classes depending on the number of children in the class who need an appointment.
These will be the only times made available for these meetings. If you do not book a meeting or attend your meeting then we will not be able to offer you a time at a later date. This is because all teachers have a certain number of directed hours during a school year which cover the various duties a teacher is required to fulfil. These hours are fully accounted for within the structure which is agreed between the teachers, their union and the school. There is therefore no additional time outside of these meetings during which teachers can be directed to attend additional meetings so please make sure you book an appointment and attend on time.
Class Rep Meeting
I would like thank al of the class reps who attend the meeting on Wednesday. This meeting was attended by almost everyone which I am ware meant that not everyone got an opportunity to share their questions with me. I have therefore decided to organise two meetings, one for the Infant School and one for the Junior School.
Infant School Class Rep Meeting will take place on Wednesday 22nd February 2023
Junior School Class Rep Meeting will take place on Wednesday 1st March 2023
Fireworks Disco Reminders
Thank you to everyone who supported the Fireworks Disco and to the HSA for organising it. They raised over £4000. We would also like to thank Samuel & William from Year 6 who set up and ran the ‘tat stall’ which raised £70.23 for the school.
Weekly Attendance
Congratulations to Gwen John in the Infants and Hockney in the Juniors for registering the highest attendance for the week ending 4th November!
We would also like to congratulate all of the children who received certificates today for achieving 100% attendance last half term. Children are able to earn certificates for 100% attendance each half term so if you didn’t get one last term see if you can this half term.
