Dear Parent / Carers,
This week our Year 6 children have been taking their SATs papers which have made the news once again. We would like to congratulate them on all their hard work and for behaving so maturely throughout the week. They are definitely showing that they are ready to move on to secondary school.
Last week a team of athletes from Year 4 took part in Quad Kids at New River Sports Centre. They had to compete in 2 track and 2 field events as well as run a relay. Campsbourne came 8th overall with both the girls and the boys coming third in their relay. A special mention goes to Emil Bailey who ran a fantastic 400m race, leading all the way to come in first.

Year 2 and 3 Open Morning
Don’t forget that on Monday we are hosting our final Years 2 and 3 Open Morning for this academic year.
Diversity Week – Week Beg 5th June
The week of 5th June we will be holding our second “Campsbourne Celebrates Difference” week. Children will have the opportunity to participate in activities throughout the week and we will celebrate these on Friday the 9th June. We’d like to extend these celebrations to you all from 3.30-5.00pm on the upper KS2 playground. Tastes of dishes from around the world will be available along with music and an art exhibition. Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional dress or colourful attire. Your help is needed! Please contact your HSA representatives if you are able to contribute a dish, so we can include as many different tastes of the world as possible.
Invitation to participate in a focus group at Campsbourne on Monday 22nd May
A former governor, David Libbert, who gae up many hours to support the school is looking for some parent volunteers to participate in a parents’ focus group he is running at the school. This is happening just after our Monday 22nd May ‘Open Morning’ for Years 4, 5 and 6 parents and carers.
David is currently at King’s College London studying the environment and climate change, and Campsbourne School is participating, as a ‘pilot school’, in his national “Green Schools – Green Homes” research project looking at the impact of environmentally-friendly schools like ours on their local communities.
We are very pleased to be helping out with what sounds like an important and useful research project. The benefit to the school is that we will gain some useful insights about how what we’re doing at Campsbourne to be “green”, by improving our sustainability and taking climate actions, may also be influencing how “green” you are in your own homes.
Participation in the focus group would involve doing an online questionnaire followed by a short feedback discussion. This will take place at 10am on Monday 22nd May in our ICT suite at the school. The whole thing should take just over an hour. There will be refreshments supplied and participants will each receive a £20 Sainsburys gift card as a thank-you for donating your time to this.
If you are interested in volunteering to participate in this, then please get in touch directly with David via email at david.libbert@kcl.ac.uk. Note that David is looking for a total of 5 parents/carers for the focus group.
I hope this is of interest to at least some of you!

Black Heritage Community Coffee Morning
Welcome back to the Summer term. I hope we are all doing well and living in abundance. I would like to put together more regular networking events which will allow for more frequent discussions and better opportunity to network. These may be in the form of coffee mornings or afternoons and will provide opportunities such as visiting our school library where we can have the opportunity to look at and discuss the books children have access to. As it starts to warm up, we can also have visits to the Eco Garden or over at Ally Pally. These will mostly be during school hours so your children will remain in class. Any young siblings however are welcome to come along. Please also feel free to pass this information on to any other families you feel will benefit from these discussions. I would like to host the first coffee morning on Thursday 18th May in the Eco room at 9:30. Please feel free to email me at jspringerbest.309@lgflmail.org if you have any questions.
