Dear Parent / Carers,
New Year celebrations now seem a long time ago and we are back in full swing looking forward to the term ahead. Next week our School Council will be visiting the Houses of Parliament and hopefully having an opportunity to meet our MP Catherine West depending on her commitments. They will be learning about how laws are debated and passed in Parliament. We are also hosting workshops from the NSPCC for Years 5 and 6 on Thursday covering key safeguarding messages. I am also pleased to inform you that we have recruited a new sports coach who will be running sports activities at lunchtime in our Infant Playground. This has been very successful in the Juniors and will provide opportunities for children to enjoy a wide range of fun sporting activities.
Half Term Holiday Camp
We are now able to take bookings for the half term holiday camp. You can view the timetable of activities here. Please can you make your bookings by Friday 3rd February at the latest so we can organise staffing and ensure we have the correct child to adult ratios. Whilst we will accept bookings after this date places will be limited depending on how many vacancies we have considering the child to adult ratios.

Making space for conversations about life online’. We have workshops booked in for the 23rd and 24th January for children covering the following themes.

Keeping Your Child Safe in the Metaverse
Many children have devices which allow both unfettered access to the internet and expose children to voice chat, text chat and photo sharing with complete strangers. This year presents an acceleration of vulnerability as, VR headsets, connected to Facebook’s Metaverse have been released onto the marketplace. The Metaverse seeks to link users to the internet as a Virtual Entity through the use of Virtual Reality Headsets. This amplifies the danger children are exposed to online. The NSPCC have published Virtua Reality safety advice in response to public concerns about child safety in the metaverse. With more children likely to have VR headsets, they have developed a guide for parents which you can access using the following link. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/about-us/news-opinion/2022/christmas-vr-safety-advice-for-parents-metaverse/
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
