Dear Parent / Carers,
Campsbourne Cricket Team so Close to Glory!
Wednesday 11th October 2023, a cricket tournament took place at Alexandra Park School. Campsbourne played three games in total. In our first game we won 64 runs against Tetherdown School. Our second game against St Michael’s we won with 45 runs, taking us to the finals for the morning. In our final game we played against Rhodes Avenue, we were in the lead with 56 runs to beat. Rhodes Avenue had 51 runs and needed a 6 to win, on the second to last ball they hit a six making them the winners of the morning session tournament. Reported by Thomas Year 6.
Year 5 Charitable Work
Year 5 are raising money for kidscape as our charitable work this year. Kidscape is a charity that helps children who have been bullied or are being bullied. We are hosting a book swap on Friday 20th October, 3:15-3:30 in the gym. Children are being encouraged to bring in an old book they don’t read and exchange it with someone else’s book to refresh their home library! It will cost £1 per book to swap and all money raised will go to kidscape.
School Uniform on Halloween
We have been asked whether children can wear costumes on Halloween. We do not celebrate Halloween as a school, so children are expected to wear their normal school uniform to school on the 31st October.
Alexandra Palace Firework Display and Park Access
This year the Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival will operate over Friday and Saturday. This means the Park itself will be closed from 14:00 on Thursday 2nd November until 15:00 on Sunday 5th November. This will obviously impact those using the park as a cut through.
Alexandra Palace want to support those families who use the park for access to the school by providing access via Bedford Road and through to the school via the Wetlands path which runs around the outside of the Park and the Cricket Club. This avoids the live event site where they will have an abundance of vehicles and machinery working to ready the site for Friday’s event. This route will be open between the following times.
DAY | OPEN | CLOSE |
THURSDAY am | n/a | n/a |
THURSDAY pm | 14:30 | 16:00 |
FRIDAY am | 07:30 | 09:30 |
FRIDAY pm | 14:30 | 16:00 |
Alexandra Palace will be providing us with wrist bands which you will need to access this route. As soon as these have been dropped off we will let you know so either you or your child can collect them.
SEND children Parent/Carer Coffee Morning
All families and carers are invited to attend our SEND parent coffee morning on Tuesday 7th November at 9am (after morning drop off). Please sign in at the main office and we will make our way to meet in the school dining hall. We want to continue to build on setting up a group of parents that can meet on a regular basis to share ideas, advice, and offer support in a friendly environment. Come and join us for a coffee/tea and a chat. This term we will host Lizzy Ngotta, from the Haringey SEND Parent Carer Forum in attendance to support your questions about services offered in the LA and school community for SEND learners. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Campsbourne’s Eco Swap and Share Coat Drive
Winter is nearly here (finally) and it’s time for winter coats and jackets. If last year’s jacket is too small, bring it in and swap it for one that fits.
Please bring any unwanted CLEAN coats in good condition to either playground any morning next week (16-20 October) and look for someone standing with a big (hopefully) box of coats which will be available to take on Friday 20 October after school. Eco Coat Drive
The British Fashion Council says there are enough clothes on the planet right now to dress the next six generations of the human race – let’s do our bit and use pre-loved coats and jackets this year.
*You don’t need to bring a coat to take a coat and donations to HSA are optional.

Halloween Costume Sale: Friday 20th October after school
Grab a hauntingly good bargain, as well as raise some monstrous funds for our fantastic school! We continue to focus on reducing our consumption at each Campsbourne HSA event and what a great way to reduce, reuse and recycle this Halloween! Have a look at home, dig out those old costumes that don’t fit your children anymore, dust off the cobwebs and drop them in the box by the school office window by Friday the 20th of October. At school pick-up time on that Friday, there will be a table in each playground where you can get your hands on a “new to you” spook-tastic Halloween costume or accessory! Please bring your 50p and £1 coins for a cash-only costume sale … with frightfully low prices!
Updates from the HSA
This week: two ways you can support the HSA from the comfort of your own phone!
Tatler’s Boards – can we use your garden? The HSA has a partnership with Tatlers Estate Agents. For our Fireworks event (4th November), they have agreed to pay us £15 for every Tatler’s board they can put up in front gardens. We can have up to 50 which is £750 for the school! So we’d be so grateful if you would be prepared to have a board. There is a post on Classlist that you can respond to, or you can contact Ruth Stubbles or Carmen Melinas (also both on Classlist!) directly. We’ve got to send details to Tatlers next week so quick replies are super helpful. Thank you!
