Dear Parents / Carers,
On Thursday, Year 2 had an exciting guided tour of Alexandra Palace as part of their Autumn term history unit. They discovered fascinating facts about this iconic landmark – did you know it took a staggering 15 million bricks to build the original Ally Pally? Or that the longest-ever conga line on ice happened there, with 272 people joining in?
Since Alexandra Palace is famous for its rich theatre history, the children took part in an acting workshop after their tour. They had a fantastic time using actions and expressions to convey different emotions, bringing their creativity to life! We can’t wait for more role-play adventures in the future!

It is with mixed feelings of sadness and excitement as we announce Wendy Fitt’s retirement at Easter from her 21 years service at Campsbourne School. We cannot begin to thank her enough for the work she done for our families over the years as Pastoral lead and the enormously positive impact she has had across our community. She will be so missed and her lack of presence around the school will be felt. We wish Wendy lots of luck as she enters a new exciting chapter of her life and hope she’ll come back and visit us whenever she can!
Unfortunately Wendy is not the only staff member we will losing at Easter; Sharon Hodson our Forest School leader is also moving onto pastures new. Sharon has been snapped up by Unison who she has already been working with for some time alongside her work with us at Campsbourne. As Forest School lead, she has provided incredible opportunities, experiences and long-term memories which I know the children (and parents) will hold dear. We cannot thank her enough for the dedication she has shown, no matter the weather! We wish her all the luck as she enters into her new challenge!
At Campsbourne we value Forest School to the highest regard and therefore will be looking to ensure we continue to keep this as part of our curriculum moving forward. We will update you in regards to what this will look like as soon as we can.
World Book Day
World Book day is fast approaching – please see the attached information regarding our competition for this.
Some friendly reminders!
Please can I remind parents that the children’s snack at breaktimes should be a healthy choice. Crisps and chocolate biscuits are not allowed and these will be taken away from the children if spotted by a member of staff and given back to them at the end of the day. Please can you also remind your child not to share food with other children due to potential allergies. Many thanks.
An email went home to parents of children in Reception to Year 3 earlier this week regarding our upcoming, exciting author from visit Andy Day from CBBC! Just a reminder you can pre-order his book and your child can have it personally signed on the day. Just click on the link below.

Infant & Junior Discos
What an incredible time we had at the Infant and Junior Discos! The events were filled with fun, music, and plenty of dancing, and amid all that excitement, we were able to raise over £2,500 for the HSA – which is just incredible. We’ll work closely with the school to decide how best to use these funds to benefit ALL Campsbourne children.
A huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and came along, as well as to our amazing volunteers who helped make the events possible. Check out our Instagram reel which captures all the fun of the evenings! instagram.com/p/DGAqeyZoyFD/
Read-a-thon
Today marks the halfway point of our Campsbourne Read-a-thon and there’s still plenty of time to rack up those reading minutes and collect pledges from family and friends, so don’t panic! We’re encouraging the children to read as much as they can (or be read to or listen to audiobooks) and gather sponsorships for their reading time to help raise vital funds for the school, so let’s keep turning those pages and making a difference – every minute of reading counts.
There are loads of prizes up for grabs for the top minute readers across all year groups, and everyone who participates and returns their pledge form will get a special bookmark! If you need any paperwork, ask your class teacher or check your class whatsapp groups for the PDFs to print at home.
