Refugee Week
Throughout this term children in Key Stage 2 have been learning about refugees through the books they read during their reading lessons. Next week we celebrate refugee week through our assemblies and in class through whole class books which are read to children in all year groups and are used to discuss this important topic with the children. This year we would like to raise money for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. We will do a short assembly which explains why there are Ukrainian refugees. We do not intend to go into details about the war but simply to explain that there is a war and that this means Ukraine is not safe for everyone at the moment and so many Ukrainians need somewhere safe to live whilst the war is ongoing. To show our support for Ukrainian refugees we are encouraging everyone to wear blue and yellow next Friday and to bring in £1 to donate towards the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC)
New Lunch Menu
Our school chef, Glen, and I have updated our menu and shown it to the school council who I am pleased to say have signed it off. This updated menu includes some old favourites which we hope the children will enjoy, including fish fingers with baked beans and chips on Fridays, and reintroducing daily sandwiches with a side salad. You can view the full menu using the links below. This menu will begin from Monday 4th July.

Summer Holiday Club
Our summer holiday provision will be running for 3 weeks between Monday 25th July and Friday 12th August, from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. A range of fun indoor and outdoor activities will take place at Campsbourne school, designed to engage & entertain your children. A full programme will be released in the following weeks. You can book your spaces via Scopay.
SEND children’s Parent/Carer Coffee Afternoon
All families and carers of SEND children are invited to attend our second SEND parent coffee morning on Thursday the 7th July at 2.30pm. Please sign in at the main office and we will make our way to meet in the school dining hall. We want to build on setting up a group of parents that can meet on a regular basis to share ideas, advice, and offer support in a friendly environment. Come and join us for a drink and a chat. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
Clean Air Day 2022
As it was Clean Air Day yesterday, the 16th of June, we’d like to share with you that Defra is running a consultation on long term targets for the environment, including clean air. It is the biggest opportunity to improve air pollution across the country over the next decade. With 97% of homes in the UK currently exceeding World Health Organization guidelines for at least one of three key pollutants, time is running out. A few minutes of your time could make all the difference to the health of all our children – who are getting ill from air pollution right now. Please do respond to the consultation by 27th June via this really simple tool: https://envirotarget.uk/mums-for-lungs
Holiday Provision Survey
I was informed that some parents were not able to access the holiday provision survey. We hope that we have fixed the issue and would really appreciate it if we could get your feedback regarding our Holiday Play scheme. We have created a very simple 3 question Google form which should take less than 60 seconds to complete. Please complete it even if you don’t use holiday provision as we are trying to establish how much demand there is for such a service.
Holiday Play Scheme Questionnaire
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards
