Dear Parent / Carers,
Celebrating Women’s Achievements in WOW Week
It’s been an exciting first week back with our whole school taking part in Wow week. The theme has been ‘Inspirational Women’ and each class has taken a focus on somebody who we can be inspired by, due to their perseverance and achievements:
Reception: Floella Benjamin
Year 1: Rebecca Welch
Year 2: Steph Houghton
Year 3: Jessica Ennis Hill
Year 4: Emma Watson
Year 5: Alex Scott
Year 6: Baroness Amos
In our special celebration assembly this afternoon, we had one brave volunteer from each year group stand up and share their fabulous writing, which they have been working on this week. It’s been great to hear about the children’s learning around these incredible role models and hopefully the children have been inspired to believe that perseverance and passion, can lead to fantastic opportunities and change.
Ghana Early Years Project
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has donated pre-loved books, toys, puzzles, games, clothing and stationery to this project. Their donations, together with others, have been used to resource the early years department of four schools in Accra, Ghana. The most recent shipment of donations will be sent to the Volta region of Ghana where there was significant flooding, and as such the few school resources they had were submerged in water. “On behalf of the Director General and the entire GES, we want to thank Campsbourne School, your family, and friends for your generous donations to Early Childhood Services and schools in Ghana. This has and will create a lasting impact by nurturing the educational foundations of future generations. With your support, children receive furniture to sit for quality education, vital resources, and essential care, setting them on a path towards lifelong success and empowerment. Thank you for investing in their bright futures and shaping a better tomorrow for all.” Mrs Priscilla Walters – Assistant Director for Early Childhood – Ghana Education Service (GES) Thank you once again for your support and generosity.

Summer Term Dates
Please check the dates for the summer term below. We have recently added dates for the Class Rep Meetings and additional trips and open mornings.
Campsbourne Celebrates Difference (Date Change to 3rd June not 5th June)
The week of 4th June we will be holding our second “Campsbourne Celebrates Difference” week. Children will have the opportunity to participate in activities throughout the week and we will celebrate these on Friday the 7th June.
We’d like to extend these celebrations to you all from 3.30-5.00pm on the upper KS2 playground. Tastes of dishes from around the world will be available along with music and an art exhibition. Everyone is encouraged to wear traditional dress or colourful attire. Your help is needed! Please contact your HSA representatives if you are able to contribute a dish, so we can include as many different tastes of the world as possible.
Class Gifts for Birthdays
We appreciate that your children’s birthdays are special occasions and teachers always do their best to wish children happy birthday and make sure they feel special. However, moving forward we will no longer be accepting small gifts, including food items, from parents to hand out to classes. There are an increasing number of children with allergies, sometimes these allergies are known and sometimes they are not, and so it is not safe for us to be handing out food items to children. We will also not be accepting non- food items. Teachers are very busy with lessons continuing right up to the end of the day and do not have the time to hand out increasingly complex arrays of gifts. We are also very mindful that not all families are in the position to buy gifts for a class of 30 children, so we feel it is fairest for everyone if we no longer continue with this practice.
WHAT’S THAT APP ANYWAY
What even is Fortnite (or Roblox…or Minecraft…)?
- The best way to find out is to get your child to show youhow any app or game works, what happens and if it’s appropriate. It could be quick, or you might even find you enjoy playing or watching together!
- Common Sense Media has thousands of expert reviews of apps, games and even films and what parents and children think about them. You can view their reviews here https://www.commonsensemedia.org/search
