Dear Parent / Carers,
As I am sure you are all aware that those of us in the Junior School had a visit from OfSTED this week. (Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education and inspect services providing education and skills for learners of all ages). I would like to thank all of the staff for all their hard work, not only this week, but throughout the year to ensure your children get the best education possible with the resources we are given by the government. I’m afraid that the outcome of the inspection remains confidential until the report is published which can take as long as six weeks to happen but I look forward to sharing it with you as soon as I am able to.
In addition to OfSTED the children have continued to have a rich and fulfilling week. The School Council visited The Houses of Parliament and met Catherine West MP; we hosted NSPCC Safeguarding Workshops for Years 5 and 6, and our Travel Ambassadors have been awarded the Gold Star Travel Award. Safer Internet Day 2023
Next week children will be taking part if Online Safety workshops covering the following themes.
In EYFS and KS1, the children will participate in an interactive story on the importance of making sensible choices online to keep yourself safe. The key message of the story is that children should always turn to a trusted adult for help if they are ever worried, scared or upset by anything they experience online. In KS2, the children will be considering different areas of online safety including trustworthiness of information, health and well-being, managing personal information, communication with strangers, online bullying and respectful online communication.
The presentations for each session will be made available, and you are encouraged to talk with your child about what they discussed and learned in their session.
For parents we have purchased an online video which you can by clicking on the following link.

Welcome back to our Monthly Marvellous Tips on saving energy (Drying clothes in winter months)
Try and position your washing near an open window or somewhere with good air flow. Avoid layering too many clothes in the same part of the airer as this can delay the drying process. Instead, spread clothes evenly at least and inch apart and turn them over after a few hours to help them dry evenly.
Throw a dry bath towel in with the garments you need dried quickly if using a tumble dryer. The towel will absorb some of the moisture, making your items dry faster. Remember to take out the towel after around 5 minutes, if you are drying just a few items, or 15 minutes for a full load.

Keeping Your Child Safe in the Metaverse
Many children have devices which allow both unfettered access to the internet and expose children to voice chat, text chat and photo sharing with complete strangers. This year presents an acceleration of vulnerability as, VR headsets, connected to Facebook’s Metaverse have been released onto the marketplace. The Metaverse seeks to link users to the internet as a Virtual Entity through the use of Virtual Reality Headsets. This amplifies the danger children are exposed to online. The NSPCC have published Virtua Reality safety advice in response to public concerns about child safety in the metaverse. With more children likely to have VR headsets, they have developed a guide for parents which you can access using the following link. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/about-us/news-opinion/2022/christmas-vr-safety-advice-for-parents-metaverse/
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
