Dear Parent / Carers,
As I am sure you know by now we had our OfSTED Inspection for the Infant School this week. Thank you to all of you who shared your views to the inspector. It was lovely that the inspector read so much positive feedback. I would also like to thank all of the staff for all of their hard work especially during the inspection. And finally, I would like to thank the children who were brilliant as they always are. The full report and judgement will be shared with you once it has been approved by OfSTED which can take up to 6 weeks.

Black Heritage Community Coffee Morning
Welcome back to the Summer term. I hope we are all doing well and living in abundance. I would like to put together more regular networking events which will allow for more frequent discussions and better opportunity to network. These may be in the form of coffee mornings or afternoons and will provide opportunities such as visiting our school library where we can have the opportunity to look at and discuss the books children have access to. As it starts to warm up, we can also have visits to the Eco Garden or over at Ally Pally. These will mostly be during school hours so your children will remain in class. Any young siblings however are welcome to come along. Please also feel free to pass this information on to any other families you feel will benefit from these discussions. I would like to host the first coffee morning on Thursday 18th May in the Eco room at 9:30. Please feel free to email me at jspringerbest.309@lgflmail.org if you have any questions.
Haringey Events
Haringey Urge parents and carers to sign up for Healthy Start scheme
We are urging parents and carers in Haringey to make the most of the Healthy Start scheme amid the ongoing cost of living crisis. Healthy Start was set up by the government in 2006 to ensure that low-income mothers who are more than 10 weeks’ pregnant, or parents who have children under 4, have access to support to purchase healthy food, milk (dairy and formula) and vitamin supplements (for the mother during pregnancy, as well as for the baby/child). Many eligible parents across the country are still not in receipt of this vital support to young families at a very challenging and difficult time for them financially. For more details on who is eligible for the scheme, what it provides and how to apply, visit the our Healthy Start pages

Keeping You and Your Information Safe
Having your social media account hacked or finding out someone has stolen your data can be scary and upsetting. But there are easy steps you can take to keep yourself safe.
Use strong passwords
A strong password means that it’s hard for someone else to guess or for a computer to crack. Some people use password managers to store all of their passwords, but these can cost money and aren’t always secure so you need to be careful.
Use our tips for creating a strong password.
- Make it long and difficult to guess
Make your password more than 8 characters and use a mix of lower case letters, upper case letters, numbers and special characters (like %, #, ! and £).
- Don’t use personal details
People might be able to guess your favourite animal, your birthday or your best friend’s name. Try using 3-4 random words that you can remember instead.
- Use different passwords
Change your password regularly and use completely different passwords for different websites and apps.
Set up 2-factor authentication
2-factor authentication adds another layer of security to your password by asking for another piece of information. For example, you might need to enter your password and then enter a code you’re sent via text message. It’s much more secure as passwords can be guessed or cracked.
Lots of apps and sites let you use 2-factor authentication, and you should choose to use it whenever you can.
Keep your apps and devices safe and up to date
Device and app updates include important security fixes, so it’s good to make sure you regularly download updates for your:
- phone, tablet, laptop and computer
- apps and games
- wearables, including fitness trackers and smart watches
- smart devices and speakers like Alexa or Google Home.
Each device is different, but you can usually find out how to enable updates in the settings.
It’s also important to use anti-virus software. You can get anti-virus software for mobiles as well as tablets, laptops and PCs. Make sure that you keep it updated or ask an adult to help you.
Make sure you log out when you’re using public or shared devices
Lots of websites will keep you logged in, even after you close them. If someone else has access to the phone or device you’re using then they might be able to log into your account.
If you’re using someone else’s device or someone else might have access to yours, make sure you:
- log out of any websites or apps when you’re finished
- don’t save any passwords or log-in information
- clear your internet history
Be careful which websites you’re using
There are lots of websites that will try to trick you or pretend to be something else.
Make sure any website you’re using has “https” at the start of the address so that you know it’s secure. Only enter your log in details when you’re absolutely sure it’s the right website, that the address is correct and it’s using https (at the front of the link in your browser bar).
I hope you have a lovely long weekend.
