Dear Parents / Carers,
Thanks to our wonderful Alex Lawson, head of our HSA and the incredible work she facilitated around our Read-a-thon, we are in the Ham & High! See below the article which has been published this week.
Children at Campsbourne Primary School in Nightingale Lane, Hornsey, were encouraged to set daily goals and track the time they spent with a book in the read-a-thon organised by The Campsbourne Home and School Association (HSA) in February.
The children collectively read for 123,676 minutes, equivalent to 86 full days.
Altogether, they raised £4,600 for the HSA through sponsorships from family and community members.
Ten per cent of this will pay for new reading books for each class, with the rest going towards other educational activities.
Becky, mother of Emmett, the overall winner from the infant school said: “It’s definitely given Emmett’s reading a boost and he loved the whole experience. He was so motivated logging his time and seeing the numbers grow.”
Prizes were awarded to the children who read the most minutes in each class.
Acting headteacher Ms Currie said: “The dedication to reading and enthusiasm for raising funds for our school has been remarkable. Whether the children read a few pages or hundreds, every minute counts and their collective achievement is something to be celebrated.”

Arbor our new communications and payment system
A letter will be sent out in phases for all parents/carers to register to our new system. We have started with Nursery, Reception and YR1 and will work our way through the rest of the school. It is important for you to register. We will confirm by email when the system goes live.
Please can I remind you that our office email address is admin@campsbourne.haringey.sch.uk and the previous email address you may have used, is no longer active.
Alert! Could all parent/carers please check their child’s access to social media through any device. Please check that they are unable to access material that is inappropriate for their age. We are seeing and hearing words, language and gestures that are not appropriate for primary aged children. Please remember that most social media platforms such as Tik Tok, You Tube, Snap Chat, What’s App etc have a minimum age of 13 years old.
Clubs
Reminder all clubs have finished for next week APART from Monday clubs and Art with Anna on Thursday (more details from Anna).
An information sheet is being emailed out today for all parents with Summer Club information on it. New clubs to watch out for are Rugby (yrs 5/6), Taekwon-Do (yrs 1-6), British Sign Language (yrs 1-2). Flyers will be sent via email. Football from Rose Academy is taking a break at the beginning of next term. We are hoping to have Cricket Club back but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Latest from the HSA
Tomorrow is our Campsbourne School HSA Spring Fair! The entire event has been put together by parents and carer VOLUNTEERS in their own time, so please remember to speak kindly and treat everyone involved with the fair with respect. If you haven’t already, please consider signing up for a 30-minute volunteer slot – check with your class rep for more information. We simply can’t host these whole school events without all hands on deck.
We continue to work on a reduce/reuse/recycle approach at our events and ask that you please do your bit and use the bins and recycling boxes provided to help us keep Campsbourne tidy on Saturday! We also encourage you to bring your own cup for hot drinks – OR you can get your hands on one of our new Campsbourne reusable cups for just £8 at the fair! The weather is looking dry and maybe even sunny – YEY! Even though the chocolate egg hunt is sold out, you can still get your tickets for fast-track entrance. Make sure to have your QR code ready for scanning at the gate (or your raffle ticket to hand in).
Cash and cards will accepted across the whole fair, and coins and small change are most appreciated and are super helpful for the smaller pocket money events! We can’t wait to see you there for a fun family day!
