Dear Parent / Carers,
Tuesday 4th October no After School Provision
Please remember that there is no after school provision next Tuesday due to whole school staff training on metacognition.
New Finishing Time for Last Day of Term
From this term onwards, the last day of term will finish at 1.45pm for all year groups. This decision has been made as it is not possible to safely manage two different times for parents to collect their children. There will be no after school provision on this day.
The last day before half term is still a normal day.
Parents Evening
The results of the parent consultation on parents’ evenings was a nail biting 50.8% declaring a preference for Face to Face and 49.2% declaring a preference for Virtual. It is not logistically possible to run both styles at the same time so we are going to offer one of each.
We will offer a face to face meeting after half term on the 14th and 16th November and virtual meetings in the spring term. Details about registering for a face to face meeting will be shared directly after half term.
Harvest Festival Assembly moved to 12th October
We had planned for Fr Bruce from St Marys Church to join us to celebrate the harvest festival on Wednesday 5th October however, it has been brought to my attention that this day is Yom Kippur which is the holiest day in Judaism so Fr Bruce will now be visiting us on Wednesday 12th October so we don’t have a clash. We will still be accepting donations over non-perishable items over the next few weeks to donate to the Hornsey Foodbank. You child can bring these in and give them to your class teacher of in the collection bins in our school halls.
Value of the Week
Next week we are thinking about the value of ‘equality’. We will be encouraging the children to think about the importance of treating all people the same regardless of their gender, race, age, ability, religion or sexuality and looking at famous people who have championed these causes such as the suffragettes or Paul Stephenson. With the older children we will also explore equality v equity and the importance of helping others out more so they have the same opportunities as everyone else e.g. disabled facilities on public transport.
Campsbourne School Garden
This year our Forest School Lead, Sharon, will be leading groups of gardeners from each year group at lunch time to grow something unique and to then make a delicious meal with it. We have chosen recipes from a fantastic book called The Little Growers. We look forward to watch the plants grow and turn into delicious food on a plate!
YEAR 1 – Planting kale and making kale crisps
YEAR 2 – Planting radishes and making rainbow rolls
YEAR 3 – Planting broccoli and making broccoli trees with garlic crumb
YEAR 4 – Planting carrots and making crunchy, fruity slaw
YEAR 5 – Planting rhubarb and making messy tarts
YEAR 6 – Planting courgette and making feta, courgette fritters
Celebrating Parties
Can I please remind parents not to send their children in with cakes and biscuits for their birthdays as teachers will not hand them out. If you would like to share a small gift with the class we suggest something like a novelty pencil or rubber.

Festive Cards!
A reminder that the deadline to return your child’s art on the Cauliflower Card form to their teacher is Friday 30th September. This is the art that can be turned into a set of high-quality festive cards, mugs or wrapping paper and tags. The ordering and payments are online. You’ll need to login or set up an account at https://www.cauliflowercards.co.uk/parents-shop which is very quick and easy to do. There is a unique number on the form that you use to place your order before you return the artwork to the class teacher. Money raised from this is used by the HSA to fund school projects.
