Dear Parents / Carers,
An exciting week with lots going on, in particular we have been celebrating Science week! During Science week, the children across Years 1-6 explored different scientists, who have made very impressive life contributions to the field of Science, in their year groups. Over the week, the children completed a range of activities, which included designing leaflets and completing biographies amongst other things, based on how their discoveries have been useful for the world. The week culminated in a whole-school assembly, in which year groups showcased a sample of their work, whilst also giving the school some general information about their scientist.
Underneath are a list of the scientists the year groups explored:
Scientists:
Year 1: Brian Cox
Year 2: Marie Van Brittan Brown
Year 3: Rosalind Franklin
Year 4: Elsie Widdowson
Year 5: Garret A. Morgan
Year 6: John Franklin Enders / Mary Seacole/Aziz Sancar
We all had a brilliant week and hopefully lots of our children felt inspired that one day they are capable of going on to become a scientist.
Goodbye Wendy
We said our final goodbye to Wendy this morning ☹ We marked this with a special assembly for her in the form of a talent show – at her request! Lots of children across the school have been rehearsing for this wonderful event and what incredible talents we have here at Campsbourne! From dancing to singing to telling jokes – they’ve got it all! A huge thank you must go to Helen and Billie-Jean for the incredible work they put into working with the children and organising the show. It really was a huge success and there were definitely tears from Wendy (and others!) We will miss her enormously but we wish her all the best for her retirement and hope it brings her everything she hopes for.
Today we have also said goodbye to Jade Springer-Best who has worked at Campsbourne for 8 years as a class teacher and as our Black Community Lead. Jade has taken up a new post elsewhere and we wish her lots of luck and happiness with her future endeavours.
We also want to recognise what an incredible job Miss Currie has done in Acting up as Headteacher for us this term. She has been truly magnificent and ensured we have had a smooth term with happy children and happy staff! Thank you Miss Currie – what would we do without you? An exciting time is now upon us as we start the summer term in just a couple of weeks with our new Headteacher Mr Soyka. I’m sure we will all make him feel very welcome and no doubt, he will settle into our Campsbourne life in no time!

A letter will be sent out in phases for all parents/carers to register to our new system. We have started with Nursery, Reception and YR1 and will work our way through the rest of the school. It is important for you to register. We will confirm by email when the system goes live.
Alert! Could all parent/carers please check their child’s access to social media through any device. Please check that they are unable to access material that is inappropriate for their age. We are seeing and hearing words, language and gestures that are not appropriate for primary aged children. Please remember that most social media platforms such as Tik Tok, You Tube, Snap Chat, What’s App etc have a minimum age of 13 years old.

Spring Fair
Last Saturday’s Spring Fair was incredible – and weren’t we so lucky with the sunshine? What a fantastic day it was and a lovely chance for our community to come together to enjoy a fun family day, with a range of activities and delicious food and drink!
A huge thank you to our sponsors, food vendors, activity leaders, volunteers, and everyone who attended – your support made this event truly special! We’re thrilled to share that we raised an amazing £2,786.52 for the HSA. Every penny will go towards supporting the children of Campsbourne, funding projects and activities that enrich their school experience.
We couldn’t have done it without you – thank you for being part of such a memorable day!
