Campsbourne Governing Body works with the Head Teacher and staff at the school to promote high standards of educational achievement in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Governors are keen to promote the school and to ensure it meets children’s needs and the aspirations of the local community. We want to build on the progress that the school has made in the last few years. In particular, the school has developed a child-centred ethos with improved educational standards. We are proud of the continuing improvements to the school’s buildings and grounds at the foot of Alexandra Palace.
Meetings of the Governing Body take place at least one a term. At them we discuss the work of the school and the plans for the future.
The Governing Body has two committees which look at particular aspects of the school’s work. These committees deal with the curriculum and standards (together with extended services and SEN) and finance and human resources (together with the school premises and health and safety). In addition, the Governors have also set up an Educational Excellence Working Group with the remit of keeping the governing body up to date with general developments in the education sector (in particular, education policy, best practice for schools and governing bodies and new school models) and identifying opportunities for Campsbourne to learn from and build relationships with other schools with the aim of raising the achievement and progress of children at the school.
The Governing Body consists of two parent governors who are elected by parents, a nominee from Haringey Council, the Head Teacher and one other member of the school’s teaching staff together with eight additional governors co-opted onto the Governing Body. From time to time there are vacancies on the Governing Body and joining the Governing Body can be a rewarding way to contribute to the work of the school. When there are vacancies for parent governors we write to parents asking them if they are interested in joining us and we explain the joining process. Governors are keen to be accessible to parents and other members of the school community. You will meet governors at the school gate and at meetings of the Home-School Association. Alternatively you can contact them via e-mail or the school office. If you would like to know more about the work of the Governing Body you can view our most recent newsletter here.
