Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
It has been another busy week which has seen our boys and girls football teams in action, a visit from an external maths advisor and the start of the new HSA playground equipment being used on the playgrounds. Our football teams experienced mixed fortunes. The girls played incredibly well and gave some excellent performances but unfortunately didn’t progress through the final stages of the tournament they played in earlier in the week. The boys worked hard to get through to the final of their tournament but unfortunately lost 2-0 to St Michael’s from Highgate. Thank you children for representing the school with such passion and skill. It was a pleasure to spend times in classes this week to review the teaching of maths. The children’s knowledge and understanding was evident in every class. They demonstrated great flexibility in their thinking and were well supported by their peers, support staff and teachers. The new equipment that has been very kindly donated by the HSA slowly started to be distributed on to our three playgrounds. By the end of next week all of the equipment will be in full operation. Thank you for your continued support.

NUTS & SNACKS- A reminder to all families that we are a nut free school. There has been an incident of a child bringing in a snack that contained nuts which as a school we want to avoid so that we ensure all children with a nut allergy avoid any difficulties through unintentional contact with foods that contain traces of nuts. Please can you also check the ingredients of your child’s morning snack so that they don’t bring food in to school which could also trigger a reaction. Thank you with your support with this important matter of health and safety.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING -This week in Year 4, pupils have been engaging with a rich variety of topics across the curriculum. In history, they have explored Julius Caesar’s unsuccessful invasions of Britain, considering both the challenges faced by the Romans and the resilience of the Britons. In science, they have been developing their understanding of living things by learning to distinguish between vertebrates and invertebrates, investigating their key characteristics and adaptations. In religious education, pupils have been studying the life of the Buddha, reflecting on the events and teachings that shaped his journey and their significance for Buddhist beliefs and practices. Here are some examples of our work:
This week, children in Year 2 brought in items from home that show part of their identity or culture. They loved explaining why these items are meaningful to themselves. We had a drum from Africa, a fan from Malaysia, instruments from Columbia and much more! The children asked and answered questions amazingly and we cannot wait to explore our different communities more as the year goes on!
FRIENDLY REMINDERS – Thank you to all of our families who signed up to the Arbor. I hope that you found the video that was sent out with last week’s newsletter useful. Please keep encouraging those families who have yet to sign to do so as soon as possible.
