Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
Another busy week has flown by and it has been very encouraging to see how much support the school receives from our parent and carer body. Our weekly Standards Assembly has become a regular fixture in the school week and half termly Open Mornings are always well attended. The HSA welcome event for our new parents and carers in the Early Years was another successful initiative which took place on Wednesday evening. The importance of positive relationships between the school and its parent and carer body is central to the successful development for every child and we are very fortunate at Campsbourne that is a strength. I reached out to Catherine West our local MP earlier in the week and she will pay the school a visit on Friday 21st November. We look forward to welcoming her. I have uploaded your child’s class timetable, this half term’s curriculum newsletter and the Meet the Teacher slides on to the relevant year group pages on the school website. I hope that you find them useful. Please keep supporting the school in all that we do.
ATTENDANCE – Every week at our Standards Assembly classes are presented with a trophy for having the best attendance from the previous week. It is one of many ways the school uses to promote the impact of a child’s long term success. Many of you bring your child to school every day and as a result they have a very good attendance records. You can check your child’s attendance at any point using the Arbor app, something I would encourage you to do. The government guidance about attendance is very clear. Every child must have a minimum attendance rate of 96% through the school year. There will of course be times when your child is ill and time off school is unavoidable. The school works hard to reach out to families who may also experience other difficulties which precludes them from bringing their child to school. If attendance is an issues for you as a family please make sure that you contact the Office staff who will support you through a variety of ways which will help get your child in to school.
LATEST FROM THE HSA – It was so lovely to meet lots of new Nursery and Reception grown ups at our drinks event on Wednesday night! Thank you to all who came and if you couldn’t make it, please don’t worry, we look forward to getting to know you at our Winter Fair on Saturday the 29th November.

We are working to get Arbor up and running hopefully by 16th October for payments. If you have any questions please give Diane a call in the school office or email admin and she will get back to you.
HARVEST CELEBRATION – Our harvest celebration assembly is October 22nd. Please have a look in your cupboards for any food you can spare (nothing fresh please) for the children to bring into school. We will be collecting donations from Monday 13th October. A table will be set up in the middle hall for you to drop them off. During half term we will be taking your contributions to the Hornsey Food Bank. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING –
In Destination Reader lessons this week, Year 6 have been reading Viking Boy. It is an engaging book about a young character (Gunnar), who has to find his way in an uncertain world. The children have responded to some vocabulary tasks; linking knowledge that they have already learnt about in History. They are doing a great job, as we all look forward to continuing with the text and finding out what will happen to Gunnar and his family
FRIENDLY REMINDERS – ARBOR – If you haven’t signed up to use the Arbor app please make sure that you do so as soon as possible.
