Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
Hi all!
We are sorry there was a typo on the term dates we shared last week, we have corrected this now. The website is the right version, please use this – also attached on Arbor. Please note all pupils are returning to school on Thursday 3rd September 2026. We are changing how we report attendance to you, so this week we are saying congratulations to Moore in the Infants and to Thompson in the Juniors for registering the highest attendance last week.
Some parents have been asking about ‘flexi-schooling’ their child. This is not a Campsbourne policy or something that we offer as a school. If you decide you’d like to do this then we will ask you to discuss this with a member of the safeguarding team and your child will be marked as ‘absent’ for when they are not at Campsbourne. If your child is dual-registered and attending a different setting when they are not at Campsbourne (eg: Dyslexic School or Forest School) please arrange a meeting with me or Morgan asap so we can update our records.
Haringey had their Ofsted inspection in January and are quite rightly very happy with the outcome of ‘Outstanding’, well done to all involved! You can read the full report here.
Parents of pupils in KS2 choir please save the date for 14th June as we want them to take part in a special celebration for Priory Park’s 100th birthday! (Please also note we are doing this instead of the Crouch End Festival this year). Watch this space for more information!
Please come along to our parent coffee morning “Parenting in the digital age” with the smartphone free childhood campaign. This session was booked after feedback from parents at the meet the Senior Leadership Team last half term, we do hope to see lots of you there!

Spring Term Parent Evenings – March 2026
A letter went out earlier this week with full details of our Spring Term Parent–Teacher Evening sessions and how to book. Bookings are now open via Arbor for the following dates: Tuesday 10th March, 3:40–6:10pm for children on the SEND Register, and Tuesday 17th March and Thursday 19th March, 3:40–6:00pm for all other children. Years 1–6 meetings will be held in the Upper (Junior) Building and Reception consultations in the Lower (Infant) Building, using the usual entrances for each site. Please check your Arbor account to book a slot, and contact Diane in the school office if you need any help with the booking system or with choosing an Eid-friendly option. (We will strive to avoid any religious festivals next time!)
Learning around the school this week:
For the next three weeks Reception’s focus story is” the gingerbread man” so we kicked off in style by making our own gingerbread people from scratch. Gwen John class had such fun which helped with our writing .

This week in Literacy, the Year 2 children have thoroughly enjoyed immersing themselves in our exciting new unit, Amazing Giant Land. They used their imaginations to design their own mythical creatures and create detailed landscapes where these fascinating beings might live. The children confidently shared their creations with the class, presenting imaginative facts about their worlds and demonstrating fantastic creativity. We are looking forward to seeing their ideas develop further as they continue this unit throughout the half term.

In Science, Year 2 took our learning outdoors for a mini-beast hunt as part of our work on microhabitats. With the sun finally shining, the children embraced the opportunity to work scientifically in our outdoor environment. They carefully explored different habitats and were delighted to discover a ladybird, several snails and plenty of woodlice. As the weather begins to warm up, we are excited to make the most of our outdoor spaces and continue developing our scientific enquiry skills beyond the classroom.

This week in Year 4, students explored the key parts of the water cycle, learning how water moves through processes such as evaporation, condensation and precipitation. Understanding the water cycle is important because it helps children see how water is continuously recycled on Earth, why rainfall happens, and how this process supports plants, animals and human life. It also builds their awareness of weather patterns and the importance of caring for our environment and water resources.

Year 6 started the week comparing two different discussion texts and identifying aspects of them that were similar. They were highlighting modal verbs, points that were backed up with evidence and rhetorical questions. They worked collaboratively, as they shared their ideas, thoughts and opinions. We look forward to them writing their own discussion text in a few weeks.

From the school office:
We are still not staffed at full capacity at the front office, we are very sorry about this and thank you again for bearing with us! We’d like to say an extra thank you to Diane and Pawandeep for doing extra hours and generally being amazing team players.
World Book Day 11th March
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, the national theme this year for World Book Day is ‘Go All In’ encouraging children to read for pleasure, no matter what the genre is. We thought it would be a lovely idea to use this for our dressing up ideas, where children can come dressed representing their favourite genre or a character from their favourite genre e.g a fantasy character.
The competition this year ‘Book in a Box’ is all explained in the letter which went out before half term. The children also heard all about it in an assembly this week. See some examples (not expectations) below:

As part of celebrating World Book Day, KS2 will be having an author visit on Monday 9th March. Anthony McGowan author of ‘The Beck’ (one of the books some of the children are reading for the Bibliobuzz event) will be visiting us and talking all about his writing and being an author. The children can purchase his books and get them signed on the day!
