Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
Dear Parents / Carers,
Despite the wet weather the children have settled well into their new classes and routines have started to be stablished. It was great to see many classes resuming their swimming lessons and for the After School Club to recommence. There is a whole schedule of events planned through the term and we have populated the school diary on the website and sent out a communication last week with all of the key dates you will need for the term. Please remember to keep checking them. Our Standards Assemblies start again next week and we look forward to welcoming you to this important celebration. During this period of inclement weather please remember to send your child in to school in a rain coat that has their name clearly identified on it. Have a lovely weekend and see you all again on Monday.
NUTS – A reminder to all families that we are a nut free school. We ask that your child’s packed lunch doesn’t contain any food that has traces of nuts. Thank you for your support with this important issue.
BICYCLES & SCOOTERS – A reminder to all of our bicycle and scooter users to dismount that when you enter the school grounds and to mount your bicycle or scooter once you leave the school grounds. Please can you encourage and teach your child to do this so that we avoid any potential accidents. Thank you for your support with this important matter of health and safety. For those of you who may have left a scooter in the bike / scooter shed, please speak with Michael.
LATEST FROM THE HSA
A big hello from all of us at the HSA and a very happy new school year! We hope you had a lovely summer and that the return to school has been as smooth as possible over the past week and a half.
At last Friday’s Uniform Stampede, we raised £186 – a huge thank you to everyone who donated or contributed. What a brilliant start to our fundraising this year! Hopefully, lots more families now have a good stash of Campsbourne uniform.
Remember: if you ever need a uniform in any size, please reach out and we’ll do our best to help. Donations at Uniform Stampedes are always completely optional – there’s no expectation to give money in exchange. If you have any unwanted Campsbourne uniform in good condition, please drop it at the table opposite the school office in a bag labelled “UNIFORM DONATION”. We’ll continue sorting and collecting until we have enough to run the next Stampede.
A quick request: if you’d like to donate something other than uniform, please check in with an HSA member first (you can find us on Classlist). This way, we can make sure donations are relevant and collected at the right time to match upcoming events. Thank you!
Next week, the HSA will be meeting to kick off our plans for the term ahead. Here are some dates for your diary:
October
8th – New parent/carer drinks
24th – Online auction begins
November
6th – Class rep appreciation drinks
29th – Winter Fair
Stay up to date by following us on Facebook and Instagram @campsbournehsa — we’ll be sharing all the latest news there as well.
LEAVING THE SCHOOL SITE – As the weather begins to change and the longer nights draw in we ask that the site is vacated by 3:45pm. Michael does a fantastic job of opening and closing the school everyday and by ensuring the grounds are clear by 3:45pm he is able to complete the rest of his day’s work. Thank you for your understanding with this matter.
CHANGE OF DATE FOR OPEN MORNING FOR YEARS 4, 5 & 6 – Due to the rescheduling of a number of trips from last year, we have had to move the Years 4 5 & 6 open morning to THURSDAY 2nd OCTOBER 9:00am – 9:30am. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING – 2 Moore have settled in fantastically to their new classroom and year group. In their first week back after the summer break we focused on PSHE, covering ourselves and all the many factors that make us special. We painted some amazing self portraits and wrote about the skills that make us unique. We also identified the adults whom we know are here to help us. In addition we talked about how we can work well in a class of different children and, collaboratively, we compiled a new set of class rules and we made friendship wheels.
The children in Year 4 painted bright landscapes inspired by artist Etel Adnan. They used blocks of colour to show skies, hills and horizons! Through painting, they explored how colours can tell stories without words.
FRIENDLY REMINDERS – Please remember to encourage families to sign up to the Arbor App if they haven’t already done so. The school has moved to the Arbor Information Management System and all communications and future payments will be made using this platform. Thank you to everyone who has signed up already and we hope that you finding it useful.
Please can we all try to remember to take all belonging home at the end of the week. This includes bicycles, helmets, chain locks, lunch boxes, water bottles, items of clothing etc. Any items left at school will be deemed to be longer wanted and will be disposed of. Many thanks.
