Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
Happy Friday everyone…..
For me it feels like this half term has flown by! Lots has been happening and I want to thank everyone who has been involved in ensuring that school events such as the discos, have run smoothly. The children have thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
This week at school our PSHE assemblies for Years 1-6 have taken a focus on Children’s Mental Health Week. We talked about this years theme of ‘This is My Place’ which focuses on fostering a sense of belonging and safety for children. We talked about how important it is to have a sense of belonging, an area we touch on regularly due to our resilience wheel that we refer to with the children. Our Keeping safe assemblies this week have taken a focus on Online safety, where Mr Mattocks our STEM lead, delivered assemblies for Reception through to Year 6.This is a hugely important area to educate the children on these days and we hope they will come home and talk to you about it.
Learning around the school this week:
During Computing lessons this term, Year 1 have been TV Chefs. They have been using the Ipad to record their partner being a TV presenter and directing them to be loud and clear when explaining to their audience how to make a delicious jam sandwich. The children then switched roles so they both had the experience of each skill. This was a really fun activity and a wonderful opportunity to learn the basic camera and videoing functions of an Ipad while developing their presenting skills too. The children also enjoyed eating their jam sandwiches at the end of the day.
Year 3 were exploring fossils and fossilisation in science. They were lucky enough to have some real fossils to look at thanks to some budding palaeontologists in both classes who brought in fossils from home. They saw ammonites, star fish and coprolite (aka dinosaur poo!!) Science is always more fun when you have some hands on experience and this really brought the topic to life!
In Year 5 they have been focusing on completing their hot tasks in writing. This half term they have been looking at finding tales and creating their own stories. They finished their fantastic writing and took an opportunity in the computing suite to publish their work. They took their time writing it up in neat and thinking about how they can present their stories in a professional way.
Wiltshire Class Cake Sale

We are pleased to let you know that Wiltshire class (SEN Hub) will be having a cake sale on Friday 6th March to help raise money for much needed resources. The funds will go towards replenishing our arts and crafts supplies, construction materials, maths resources and sensory toys. We would be very grateful for your support, whether by donating cakes, selling or making a purchase on the day. Thank you!
Welcome!
After the half term we are welcoming Vanesa Corchado Caballero to the staff team who is taking over from Gareth in Reception in the summer term. Welcome to the team, Vanesa!
From the school office:
We are still not staffed at full capacity at the front office, we are very sorry about this and thank you again for bearing with us!
World Book Day
You should have received an email on Wednesday with information about how we will be celebrating World Book Day at Campsbourne this year. The national theme this year is ‘Go All In’ encouraging children to read for pleasure, no matter what the genre is. We thought it would be a lovely idea to use this for our dressing up ideas where children can come dressed representing their favourite genre or a character from their favourite genre e.g a fantasy character. The competition this year ‘Book in a Box’ is all explained in the letter. See some examples (not expectations) below!
As part of celebrating World Book Day, KS2 will be having an author visit on Monday 9th March. Anthony McGowan author of ‘The Beck’ (one of the books some of the children are reading for the Bibliobuzz event) will be visiting us and talking all about his writing and being an author. The children can purchase his books and get them signed on the day! Watch out for separate email correspondence on this!
Latest from the HSA
Discos
Phew, are we seeing double….? No, wait, it’s just the epic double disco events we had last week! The Infant & Junior Discos were absolutely buzzing – neon lights flashing, DJ Ben dropping the best tunes and that foam machine…! The dance floor was packed with Campsbourne kids in amazing superhero costumes and light-up, glowing outfits. It was amazing to see everyone let loose, have fun, and just be themselves in a safe, joyful space. It was hard to fit everything in, between the face painting, tattoos, lucky dip, pick’n’mix, snack shop and all that dancing! An extra big thanks to La Gioconda Pizzeria on Hornsey High Street for keeping everyone well-fed with their delicious margarita pizzas! 🍕
Do you want to know the BEST part? We raised a staggering £2767.41 for the HSA, a big jump from the money raised last year! This year, we will also be adding to that figure with a whopping £500 in Match Funding from one of our reception parents through their employer. This just goes to show the impact these can have, so do let us know if your work can accommodate Match Funding, and we’ll put it to good use at our future events! A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along and to our incredible volunteers who made it all happen.
Tatlers Boards
The HSA needs 6 more volunteers for the Tatlers boards to maximise sponsorship revenue. We only have 2 more events this year with Tatlers boards, the Egg Hunt on 20th March and the Summer Fair on 20th June. If you’re able to help, please email Jennycundill@yahoo.co.uk by Sunday, 15th March.
Uniforms
Our next uniform stampede is scheduled for drop off on Friday, 27th February, so come along to pick up some pre-loved uniform. Cash and card donations are accepted, but not essential. If you have any unwanted pieces of Campsbourne-branded uniform, please drop them off at the table opposite the office before this date. If you want to order any name stickers, Order here and use our school code 1716 so a percentage of sales goes to the HSA. Last year, we raised £62 for the HSA through this scheme, and helped keep on top of all that Lost and Found!
Tesco Grant
Remember, if you pop into any Tesco store across Hornsey, Finchley, Tottenham and Bounds Green, keep a lookout for the Tesco Stronger Starts Grant project box featuring the HSA, to help repair and reinstate the school’s Sensory Room. Voting is open until March 31st, and if our project receives the most tokens, we will be awarded £1500! Every vote counts. Thank you for your support!
