Dear Parent / Carers,
Last week one of our Year 5 girls, Hanna, who currently plays right-wing for the U10 Barnet Nightingales Football Club competed in the “U11/U13 Girls Football Prep 4 Sport Challenge Cup” at St George’s Park in Burton-Upon-Trent. St. George’s Park is the official training ground for England’s men and women’s football teams. Her team played in six matches over two days against girls’ football teams from London and other parts of England. The Barnet Nightingales won five matches and despite their best efforts, lost in the final to local rivals, AC Finchley. Not only is Hanna a passionate footballer, but she also has dreams of playing professionally in future. This is such an exciting time for girls and the future of women’s football in England! If you would like to follow in Hanna’s footsteps and our Lionesses then see below for free training for girls at Muswell Hill Powerleague.

Today, Year 6 tuned into a live event with Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock – a female space scientist and space communicator who they have learnt about during their science units and for black history month. Dr Maggie talked to Year 6 about what inspired her to be a scientist and also introduced her new book, ‘Am I made of Stardust.’ It was a very insightful session for all children involved with one child saying ‘how great it was to see a female leader who is encouraging others to reach for the stars.’ Thank you, Dr Maggie.
