Dear Parents and Carers,

Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating, we hope you have a lovely time with your families today!

Thank you to everyone for coming along to parents evening, it is always lovely to have you in school. Also a big thank you to the staff (as much as us teachers love to talk, parent’s evening after a day of teaching is always tiring!)

This term, our overall attendance in the infant school is not as good as we would like. Last week and this last week have been much better, thank you! Please, please, please bring your child into school if they are feeling a bit under the weather/ tired/ sniffly! We promise that we will keep an eye on them and call you if they do become too unwell to be in school. Most times, being busy and playing with their friends really perks them up (and means you can get on with what you need to do!) Thank you.

Learning around the school this week:

This week, in year 5, the children have been researching Garrett Morgan, a famous American inventor. During the week, Year 5 has been questioning what led him to design some of his life-changing inventions. The children were curious about why he invented the traffic light. After a classroom collision between two children trying to get around, the class decided that they needed to design some inventions to keep us safe as we move around the room.

Year 3 have been researching pioneering British scientist Rosalind Franklin as part of Science Week. Using a variety of written and media sources we have been learning about Rosalind Franklin’s ground-breaking images of DNA which enabled scientists to build the first 3D model of the the double helix DNA strand. We have been practising skimming through written sources, watching videos and taking notes, and then turning those notes into infographics which we will present at assembly this week.

The children in Year 1 have really enjoyed their maths lessons this week where they explored measuring using objects such as cubes, hands and feet. They worked collaboratively and independently to measure different objects around the classroom. The activity encouraged the children to estimate, compare sizes and develop their understanding of length in a fun and practical way. It was lovely to see their excitement as they discovered which objects were longer or shorter, while building their confidence in using mathematical language.

Science week in the Nursery! We were full of curiosity and questions as we explored the fascinating texture of corn flour, investigated magnets and observed the signs of Spring. We also made lemonade and watched as the sugar dissolved, continued to care for the beans that we planted, and made predictions about cars and slopes.

Mon 30th March – Thursday 2nd April ( week 1) 9-4pm
Tues 7th April -Thursday 9th April (week 2) 9-4pm.

Nursery

We are excited to announce that there are vacancies available in our nursery for September 2026. If you have not yet applied and your child was born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023, we would love to hear from you!

Latest from the HSA

Tesco Grant

Only 11 days left until our grant application runs out on the 31st March, so we only have a few more weeks where we’ll feature in the Tesco store across Hornsey, Finchley, Tottenham and Bounds Green. Keep a lookout for the Tesco Stronger Starts Grant project box featuring the HSA, to help repair and reinstate the school’s Sensory Room. If our project receives the most tokens, we will be awarded £1500! Every vote counts. Thank you for your support!

Dates for the diary

Comedy Night – Back by popular demand, and for a 3rd year!! So mark your calendars for 7:30 pm on Thursday, 30th April – ADULTS only! More information to follow.

Triathlon Event – 17th April – 16th May. All Campsbourne students will be encouraged to run, bike and swim for as many minutes during the month-long triathlon and to collect sponsorships from friends and family! More details to come after the Easter Holidays.
