Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
Hello!
Lucy here, the new Interim Headteacher. First of all, THANK YOU so much to everyone for being so welcoming and so positive about me coming up the road. It has been lovely getting to know you on the gate! It has been really busy with me splitting my time so thank you for bearing with us while we try to get on top of things. The staff team have been also been amazing so a big thank you to them too.
To those of you who I have already met/ called/ checked-in with, thank you for your understanding and patience while we try and make sure that issues are resolved from last term. If you are still trying to get in touch with me, please use the main email and I will do my best to respond asap!
We are hoping to see as many of you as possible next Friday 30th at 9am for our coffee morning (I know it’s a busy time with the disco too!) We want to talk to you about the plan moving forward, some small changes and also some bigger questions that we need your input on!

Learning around the school this week:
In computing, year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed designing their own maps and programming their BeeBots to travel to different destinations. They used their predicting skills to anticipate where the BeeBot would end up and loved giving clear instructions to one another. The children are already excited for next week, when they will build on their predicting skills and begin creating their own simple codes with confidence and enthusiasm.
In Year 6, the children have been having great fun programming Ohbots. In this lesson, the children were writing a program that uses variables to make the Ohbot appear sleepy. The children will continue to work with them until half term, as they are tasked with more interesting activities, including getting them to talk.
In Geography, Year 4 have been learning about the different layers of the rainforest. They explored what makes each layer unique — from the dark, damp forest floor to the sunlit emergent layer high above the canopy. To showcase their understanding, the children created colourful posters packed with facts and vibrant illustrations of rainforest life!
From the school office:
Please be reminded that while we will always do our best to give messages or pass things on, the main role of the admin office is attendance and safeguarding so we cannot guarantee this (we are also human and make mistakes!) If you have an urgent message, please tell the adult you see at drop off either at breakfast club or your child’s teacher. We are also still short-staffed in the office and we are working on a solution.
This year World Book Day falls on Thursday 5th March. Year 6 will be in Pendarren on their residential trip during this week, so as we have often done in the past we will be celebrating World Book day the following week. The date will now be Wednesday 11th March due to a clash with the Year 2 trip with the previous date sent out. More information regarding WBD will come soon!
Latest from the HSA
First Aid Course
2 spaces have become available in the HSA-funded first aid course happening THIS Saturday, 9-12 pm. If you would like the place, please email hsacampsbourne@gmail.com to secure your space.
Cauliflower Cards
A massive thank you to everyone who placed orders with Cauliflower Cards before the Christmas break. Collectively, it helped to raise £190.40 for the HSA, which is a super addition to our fundraising efforts!
Tesco Grant
The HSA has been shortlisted for a Tesco Stronger Starts Grant to help repair and reinstate the school’s Sensory Room. It is a vital space that supports children’s well-being by reducing anxiety and helping them regulate their emotions through calming sensory experiences. All children will benefit, with particular impact for those with SEND and children in EYFS.
How you can help:
When you shop at Tesco, please pick up a blue token and place it in our project box. Voting is open until March 31st in 15 local Tesco stores across Hornsey, Finchley, Tottenham and Bounds Green.
Prizes: If our project receives the most tokens, we will be awarded £1,500; second place will receive £1,000, and third place will receive £500. Every vote counts. Thank you for your support!
Disco Volunteer Rota
We’re all very excited that the Infant Disco is NEXT Friday, 30th January, and the Junior Disco is on Friday, 6th February! As always, events like this rely on the wonderful support of our community. The HSA volunteers have been busy behind the scenes preparing everything so far, and now we’ve compiled a list of volunteer roles that will help ensure the event runs smoothly and safely. We kindly ask you to choose a volunteering slot (or 2!), as your help will ensure that everyone has a fantastic time and stays safe. Thank you in advance for your support. Let’s make this a memorable and joyful event for the kids! Please remember, everyone attending the disco will need a ticket, so only sign up to volunteer if you and your child have a ticket.

No Readathon
Just to reassure and remind everyone that there is NO Readathon this February as there has been in the past 2 years, instead this year we’re trying something new! Starting on the 17th April – 16th May, we are hosting a Sponsored Triathlon. The Children of Campsbourne will be invited to run, bike and swim as many minutes as they can in that month, recording their times and collecting sponsorships from friends and family. More information to come closer to the time!
