Happy Friday!
I can see the summer term is going to be a busy one with lots to come, but as always it will feel like it has flown by!
I’m sure a number of you will remember that I held a Scholastic book fair at Camspbourne a few weeks ago. Thanks to the children’s enthusiasm, £611.28 was taken. Every penny we spend at the fair earns us rewards and as a result we earned £244.51! This means we can now purchase many books for the school through Scholastic without it costing us anything. Thank you so much to all the families who came to browse and decided to purchase something – it all makes a difference!
Gainsborough class had a wonderful trip to Railway Fields last week! They enjoyed searching for minibeasts, learned which creepy-crawlies live in the pond, and looked for signs of Spring!
Year 2 made the most of the warm weather by taking their learning outdoors this week. In Science, they carried out a classification enquiry, exploring different areas of the playground to find and group plants and consider whether they grow best in sunny, warmer spots or cooler, shaded areas. In ICT, the children thoroughly enjoyed using the iPads to complete a photo bingo activity, having great fun capturing live-action photos of one another.
This week in their outdoor adventurous activity for PE, Year 4 have been developing their teamwork and co-operation skills through a range of fun outdoor challenges. The children worked brilliantly together, sharing ideas, listening to one another and communicating effectively to solve problems as a team. It was wonderful to see them showing determination, supporting their classmates and using their critical thinking skills to overcome each challenge.
Year 4 pupils have also been exploring the art of backgrounds. They have been learning how a background can transform a piece of artwork – setting the mood, adding depth and helping to tell a story. Building on this understanding, the children were encouraged to think deeply about what is meaningful to them and to express this through their own paintings. Each piece reflects a personal connection, whether inspired by nature, family, hobbies, or favourite places. The results are wonderfully diverse and capture both imagination and individuality.
Year 6 had a great athletics lesson in PE this week. They are building up their stamina and looking forward to their final Sports Day at Campsbourne in July!
