Dear Parent / Carers,
This week children have been enjoying science week which included science workshops on Tuesday. The children were celebrating the achievements of specific scientists that they have been looking at in their weekly science lessons. The workshop was interactive with the children playing games and responding to some fun quiz questions. Overall, everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.
Campsbourne Girls Football Team Join Celebration of First Women’s Club in Ally Pally.
This weekend we have a team representing Campsbourne School at a tournament in Alexandra Palace to commemorate the first ever women’s club football match which took place within the shadow of the Palace. They will be competing against teams from our neighbouring schools prior to a re-enactment of the original game with the participants wearing traditional kits from the time. “”The ladies of the North team wore loose red blouses with white yokes, and full black knickerbockers fastened below the knee, black stockings, red berretta caps, brown leather boots, and leg-pads. One or two added a short skirt above the knickerbockers, but this rather detracted from the good appearance of the dress, as the skirts flapped about in the wind and rendered movement less graceful.” The event takes place between 1pm and 5pm in the park opposite the school.

Red Nose Day
The School Council would like to say, thank you to everyone who donated and wore red on the 17th March. We managed to raise £210 on the day and £155 so far on our just giving page so far. There is still time to donate on the just giving page: https://justgiving.com/fundraising/rednoseday23-campsbourne-school-and-extended-services . Year 1 raised money by doing a ‘Guess how many marbles in the jar’ competition which the children had lots of fun trying to guess the total of. At the end of the day the School Council arranged a scavenger hunt for both KS1 and KS2. All the classes had a great time and it was a fun way to end the day.
Thank You for Contributions towards Fund for Stevie
We would like to thank everyone who contributed towards the fund for Stevie Martin who was laid to rest on the 15th March. We raised £800 in total which will be donated to the family to help with the funeral costs.

Last Day of Term
A reminder that school finishes at 1.45 next Friday.
Class Rep Meetings
I have attached a progress report on the actions we identified from the Class Rep meetings in the autumn term and also responses to the questions which we got this term.
Parent Questions (Spring 2023 including progress on Autumn Actions)
The final Class Rep meetings for this academic year will take place on Friday 9th June at 9am for the Infant School and Friday 16th June at 9am for the Junior School.
Revised Homework Policy
In response to questions we received in the autumn term we have reviewed our Home Learning Policy. Two specific issues which came up were access to Google Classrooms and access to Timetables Rock Stars in the Infant School. In response to this we have made the following changes.
We will provide paper copies of home learning each week instead of using Google Classrooms and we will email parents a copy just in case the paper copy gets lost. Google Classrooms will still be our platform for online learning but we will only share login details as and when it is necessary.
We will be providing information on two new maths apps for children in Years 1 and 2. These are called White Rose 1 Minute Maths App which you can download for free and Numbots which we have subscribed to for you. We have been providing access to Timetables Rock Stars to Year 2s since the spring term.
You can find out more about the White Rose 1 Minute App and download it using the following link https://whiterosemaths.com/1-minute-maths.
Details of how to login to Numbots will be shared with parents next week.
