Year 6 trip to Junior Citizens
Year 6 had a thoroughly engaging trip to Scout Park on Tuesday morning for our Junior Citizens workshop. ...
Despite the rather inclement weather the mood around the school has been one of positivity and enjoyment. Our Standards Assemblies have been well attended over the past couple of weeks and they are a very important way of celebrating the children’s success. A large group of boys and girls took part in a football festival earlier today and had a very impressive run of results. There wasn’t an outright winner but a chance for the children to experience competitive matches on a large scale. Well done children for performing well and being good ambassadors for our school. There are many of you who dismount and mount up on to your bicycles and scooter when you enter and leave the school grounds, but there are a small number who don’t. Please can you remember to uphold this important aspect of health and safety. It was lovely to see so many of you at our Year 5 and 6 open morning which took place earlier this week. Events of this nature are an important way of creating community cohesion for all stakeholders. Children enjoy showing their parents and carers their work and having the opportunity to talk with your child’s class teacher helps to build relationships. We look forward to welcoming you at our future open mornings in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING – This week in Literacy, Year 4 have been working hard on writing their own finding stories. The children have been focusing on using their writing targets to improve their work, paying particular attention to building suspense to keep the reader engaged. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity shine through as they develop into confident storytellers.
This week during PSHE Year 3 have been learning about the importance of respect. We discussed different ways to display respect around the school. The children then wrote some beautiful acrostic poems about how this can be shown.
Children in Year 2 have been enjoying learning about inspirational individuals as part of our wider curriculum focus on diversity and inclusion. They’ve especially loved discovering new stories and role models from the books in their class book corner! We cannot wait to learn all about the life of Norman Samuels as our Black History Month focus.
FOOTBALL – Year 6 Girls’ Football Tournament
On Thursday 25th September the Year 5 and 6 girls took to the pitch with determination and team spirit in a fantastic football tournament! They played with great energy, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the day, showing real support for one another both on and off the field. It was brilliant to see their teamwork shine and their confidence grow with each match. Well done, girls!
Year 6 Boys’ Football Tournament
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 boys for an outstanding performance in their recent football tournament! The team played brilliantly, showing strength, determination, and fantastic teamwork throughout. After qualifying from the group stages, they went on to win a thrilling quarter-final and battled hard in an intense semi-final, securing a place in the finals. The final match was incredibly tough, but the boys gave it their all in what was a nail-biting game. Although we narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing 2nd out of 22 schools is an incredible achievement – we’re so proud of them!
