18 Dec Campsbourne Launch Emma Clarke Cup in front of Media!
On Monday we were the focus for women’s football throughout the country. A couple of years ago I saw a homemade plaque on the railings at the bottom of Alexandra Palace Park acknowledging the achievements of Emma Clarke. Despite attempts to learn more about this lady and her achievements we have always hit a dead end. That is until this summer when we were contacted by Dr Jak Beula about having a plaque unveiled in our school. This has opened up many opportunities for the school including Year 5 working with Tony from Black History Walks to create a brilliant assembly and the creation of a new all girls football competition with two teams competing against teams from St Mary’s and a school from Greenwich, where the assistant head teacher is a relative of Emma Clarke. St Mary’s were victorious on this occasion but we will be competing annually for the Emma Clarke Gold Cup in the future with more schools hopefully being involved. Some of our girls were also very excited to be interviewed by Channel 5 news and appeared in the final story of the day on the Channel 5 news!
