19 Jan School Council Visit Houses of Parliament
The School Council had a wonderfully engaging trip to the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday. The children were taken on a tour, which included visiting the House of Lords, being in the lobby outside the House of Commons and taking in Westminster Abbey. It culminated in meeting our local Member of Parliament, Catherine West, who spoke to the children about the importance of a school council and how it gives the elected councillors a sense of responsibility and voice. She also generously took any questions that the children had about the sorts of issues she has to deal with as a MP. It was an absorbing, insightful and interesting trip for everyone involved!
