14 Mar Year 1 Visit October Gallery
Year 1 visited The October Gallery this week. They had a great session based on an artist called Rachid Koraichi. The children viewed lots of his work exhibited around the gallery, picked out certain patterns and symbols, chose their favourite piece and then discussed this with the lead teacher Esther. 1 Ofili made their own symbols using ink and created a sculpture inspired by Rachid Koraichi which they hopefully brought home with them this week! 1 Riley created their own patterned designs on paper using oil pastels. This created a wax resist and the children then painted over their work with the ink. It was lovely to see so many different pictures and the children really enjoyed making their artwork.
We hope they all enjoyed themselves at the October Gallery and have been telling their grown ups all about it!
