30 Jun Gardening Club Cook up a Treat
Over the past two weeks, Gardening Club have been busy making delicious food from the vegetables they have been growing and looking after in the Eco Garden for the last year.
- Year 1 made Kale Crisps. This is the vegetable they chose to grow from seeds and look after. Everyone enjoyed making these and eating these, especially Mr Smith!
- Year 2 made Rainbow Rolls from the carrots they have grown from seeds over the last year. The kids thoroughly enjoyed this process.
- Year 3 made Simply Lemony Spring Greens Pasta. They enjoyed trying something new and using the vegetables they had looked after in doing this. Scarlet enjoyed it so much she was caught licking the bowl!
- Year 4 made Crunchy Fruity Coleslaw. They had a fun time mixing the onions they had grown alongside other ingredients in order to make this.
- Year 5 made Courgette and Onion Fritters from the courgettes they had been growing in the garden. They got the Mr Smith seal of approval and he even asked for more!
- Year 6 will be making Rhubarb Messy Tart and look forward to using the rhubarb they have been growing to create this.
Each year group had thoroughly enjoyed their time in the Eco Garden. We all look forward to doing the same next year! If you would like the recipes, they can be found in ‘The Little Grower’s Cookbook’ by Ghillie James and Julia Parker.
