28 Mar Year 3 learn about Rosalind Franklin in Science Week
For Science week, year 3 have been learning about a scientist called Rosalind Franklin. Rosalind was born in 1920 in Notting Hill in London and studied Chemistry at Cambridge University. The children learnt about some of her many contributions to science, one of which was her work to help discover the structure of DNA. She discovered that DNA was a double helix, which looks a bit like a twisted ladder. The children learnt that DNA is like an instruction manual that tells your body how to grow, what colour your eyes will be, and even how tall you might get! This week, we had a go at making models of DNA – it was very fiddly! We also wrote fact-files and made posters about Rosalind Franklin.
